Hi guys,
I think I have found what I need.
We know that the Forex market has no volume, and we can use tick count as a proxy of volume. On Multicharts in bar charts, insert the Volume study, we can choose to use "traded volume" or "count tick".
Now Oanda is my broker, their data feed provide the volume information as count tick, and their "volume" is empty or 0.
As Renko is a must of my trade, I need it to show volume. So here comes the problem. On renko charts, the volume can only set to "traded volume", so when inserted the volume indicator, it just shows a line of zero.
To fix this, I think I have three ways to solve this, easy to hard:
1. Find a broker whose data feed (especially for Forex) contains traded volume as well as tick count.
2.Now the data feed of Oanda in "traded volume" is empty, if I can configurate the Multicharts to make the "traded
volume" equals to the "tick count".
3. Ask Multicharts to add traded volume in renko charts.
So for the first two, any suggestions?
Thanks.

Regarding any widespread pair alternative 4. is discarding the pool nonsense, using the respective
futures volume instead.

How to do that? For instance EUR/USD.

Use 6E volume as your volume indicator.

thanks, I think in Oanda there is no 6E.
That's the / one difference between bucket shops and exchanges.
6A, 6B, 6E, etc. is CME - regulated trading, real volume, real ticks AND volume that
contains everything there is.

Thanks. Which broker are you using? Oanda's all data are in form of tick count.

Among others, I'm using IB; but that's not really the nub of the matter.
Even with IB using an additional realtime data feed is needed depending on your trading scenario.

Yeah, technically I need the Renko on Multicharts to show "tick count", or make "traded volume"="tick count" in MC.

So (imho) the best you can do is choosing a realtime data feed that provides CME data in MC ...

jiaqiangmit,
I don't think the missing option is a problem of your data. I just checked it for you using the ES future and a Renko chart and the only option MC offers for "Build Volume On:" is "Trade Volume". When I change to a regular chart type, I can decide between "Trade Volume" and "Tick Count", but on Renko charts "Trade Volume" is all I can select.

Thank you. I can use tick count as a proxy of volume to trade Forex. Now the problem is, my broker, Oanda's data feed has no Trade Volume, so when I use renko, all the volume is 0. If I can do something to make the trade volume=tick count, that's great. I think it's a hard task.

jiaqiangmit,
you can always additionally chart a 1 tick datastream on the Renko chart and count the ticks yourself using an indicator.

That solves the problem! Which reserve word or function to get the tick counts? Thanks a lot.

jiaqiangmit,
you would have to count the bars of the additional 1 tick datastream.

Unless things have changed very recently this won't be possible using Oanda data. The issue is Oanda doesn't supply historical tick data so Multicharts isn't able to use tick data to populate charts.
I use tick charts in my trading but I use Sierra Chart 's FX data feed to populate the data on the charts and then execute through Oanda's platform. You may want to check with Multicharts to see if they offer alternative FX spot datafeed providers (or, as suggested by choke35, you could pay for the futures datafeed which would provide volume on the futures contracts ).
The following user says Thank You to MWG86 for this post:
