Hi,
As my broker doesn't recognize the very comfortable SetStoploss and SetProfitTarget, I would like to set my scripts with IOG enabled and in the same time to calculate stoploss and profittarget with entryprice command. In Backtest the usage of the entryprice reserved word as starting point to calculate SL and PT looks like perfect but I don't have enough experience in the real world.
In MC wiki I don't read particular limits for this command but in the EL online help I read a strange remark: "This function can only be used in the evaluation of strategies". So ,it seems to recommend the command only to evaluate strategies.
What is your opinion? Is entryprice reliable in real trading? In MC does it really express the entry price filled by the broker or the entry price on the chart calculated by the strategy?

Thank you,
auato

auato,

I am not sure where you read this exactly in the wiki, because I don't see it under the EntryPrice explanation. There it has the correct note i.e. "[...] can only be used in signals.".

It return the chart price and if that matches your brokers entry price depends on the Auto Trading mode you are using and I would suggest to read about their pros and cons in the wiki.

MC didn't write that phrase but I read it in the Easylanguage/tradestation help for the reserved word entryprice, assuming they are really similar. I am using SA mode. Please, where are pros and cons in the wiki?
I'm investigating why one time happened to me that, in real trading, in SA mode, my strategy generated correctly an entry signal, which was correctly filled by my broker, but entryprice didn't updated its price.

Thank you

auato,

you can read about the different modes in the wiki posts below for example, but there are numerous threads in the MC forum, too:

Thanks ABCTG. Especially the second link refreshed my memory on some basic concepts I am studying.
Anyway I used SA mode and I remember the entry price was correctly sent by the chart to the broker, correctly filled by the broker and correctly plotted on the charts by the blue arrow. I am afraid that what happened to me is something a little bit different or maybe that issue is in these cases but not described.
Thanks to the print function I am now monitoring the valeus of entryprice function and now with the last entry my stratgyu made, it seems to work properly. Maybe what happended won't occur anymore but it will remain a mistery.
