Hi everyone, recently I have switched to using the trade bar to enter price specific orders is multicharts. I had been using the chart trader panel on the right which was nice because it would auto add my stop loss and profit targets I had specified with a bracket exit strategy. This doesnt happen with orders from the trade bar. They arent auto applied. I have tried dragging my bracket order from the chart trader onto my active order. This works, however it adds two pending contracts to my one open contract. I then tried to modify the pending stop and target orders -1 contract but it wont accept the change. This would of course result in a reversal if either my stop or target were hit.
I can of course right click on the chart to add the different stop and profit orders receptively but does anyone know how to make the exit orders from the chart trader work with orders placed from the trade bar?
The Trade Bar and the Chart Trader are both intended for discretionary trading but are not the same tools; the first is for quickly placing an order from anywhere in MultiCharts, the other is for actively managing the position with the chart.
So they are different tools for different purposes. Not really an 'issue' I think, just picking the right tool for the job.
I realize they are two different ways to put a trade on. The "issue" is why can I not properly add my exit strategy to the trade executed from trade bar once it is filed. Why does it place my stop and target with 2 contacts that can't be changed.
So for some reason when doing the same thing it works today. After I use the trade bar to place a trade I can now drag my exit strategy from the chart trader and it places just one contract for my stop loss and target. I will update if this changes again.
I spoke too soon. The chart trader is still adding 2 contracts to my bracket order now even when the original order comes from the chart trader as well. Not sure whats going on here but it seems like a glitch and its really annoying.
Hi, I had that issue. It was a delay between the chart and the broker. I went into the registry and changed the sync time to shorter.
this is what fixed it for me:
close MultiCharts64 and all its applications, open Task Manager -> processes Tab -> click on Description column -> check that there are no processes with Description MultiCharts etc
Then click windows start button -> type regedit -> click enter -> open this path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\TS Support\MultiCharts64\TraderServer -> right-click on “SyncMPTimeout” key -> modify -> decrease this key “SyncMPTimeout” in Decimal to any value from 100 to 500. T
this should resolve the issue. Hope this helps! trade well.
