I have just downloaded and installed the trial version of Multicharts 9.1.
I have connected to a CQG demo data source and a paid barchart.com data source in QuoteManager.
I have deactivated all other data sources aside from CQG and barchart.com.
I have added instruments from both data sources and ensured that Multicharts datasever mode is set to online.
Whenever I try to open a chart I see only a blank screen and the words establishing connection or connecting H:.
I also occasionally see a popup error which states 'Data feed couldn't be loaded.'
When I look at the Multicharts broker profiles CQG is listed however gives an error when I try to connect, Barchart.com is not listed and I cannot add it.
The barchart.com data source I subscribed to was the 100 symbol limit with access to delayed data.
Is there something I am missing?? Somebody please help!!
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
What kind of message do you see in the QuoteManager? You'll normally see there messages about data feed connections or connection problems.
Connection errors with broker profiles, like CQG, can normally be found in the 'Logs' tab of the Order and Position Tracker.
That Barchart isn't listed in the MultiCharts broker profiles is because Barchart isn't a broker but a data feed. The broker profiles and the Trade Bar that's in the top of the screen is reserved for brokers only. A data feed connection to Barchart only needs to be added in the QuoteManager.
You can indeed search for all symbols from a certain type or exchange with the * sign in the QuoteManager, but after that one of the specific symbols (from the list of search results) should be added to the QuoteManager. If all your Barchart symbols are asterisks, then something probably went wrong when adding the symbols.
I can see specific symbols I have added 10 year treasury notes, I will add some screenshots of what I am seeing.
Barchart.com support state that my account is working on their end therefore they suggest this is a Multicharts issue. When I open multicharts I receive the message 'Data feed couldn't be loaded,' please check the screenshots to see if anything looks unusual.
Doesn't look unusual to me, except for the error message of course. There's a wiki page with three suggestions to fix this error, perhaps one of them works for you:
Edit: I didn't saw your recent post yet; but now I have, I would suggest to contact MultiCharts Support. That's because your Barchart connection doesn't give an error (yet doesn't load the data) and the CQG connection does give an error, but something that suggests that the connection between MultiCharts and CQG breaks for some reason. I don't know what you can try on your end to fix this issue; sorry.
Thanks for your time Jura it looks like the Barchart.com feed works since the reinstall, the CQG one is giving me errors however I suspect that is a problem on the CQG account side.
I am not sure if this is solved already, but Multicharts changed it's protocol for connecting CQG and this made connections to CQG demo accounts not possible with 9.1 in the past. This might explain why you can't connect to it.
