I’d love to hear some feedback as well regarding the new chart trader added in Multicharts v7 and how it is compared to chart trading in Ninja, for example is it possible to setup ATMs similar to what is available on Ninja?
Would Multicharts v7 be a viable alternative to Ninja or does it seem buggy (I know it’s an alpha version).

I haven't played a lot with the ATM of this pre-alpha version, but you can do similar things, like with Ninja's.
The Ninja's one looks more powerful, but I haven't get to deeply in the MC's one to give an opinion.

But it's not buggy at all, quite impressive for a pre-Alpha version.

I just signed up for a trial of multi charts after getting really annoyed with NT. I am no programmer but I have taught myself enough to feel comfortable around the NT script and C# in general.

But I find NT to use a lot of resources, alerts/stegeties dont always work/fire when they should and I really hate the script editor that is embedded in the program (if only it worked with the free version of visual studio

I am thinking of migrating toward MC and I am curious to here some updated opinions about it. For my needs, I just want a system that i can program to do some strategies/alerts (I will manually trade) , based upon multiple time frames and multi instruments (ie if S&P breaks support, and IBM doesnt, alert) and has a market analyzer/scanner. I am also of thinking of exporting some techincal data (via text files most likely) so that I can use for a futures trading application with X-Trader and/or IB. The good thing about NT was that it was C# based, and therefore had a lot of resources for streamwriting, creating methods, DLL's and other fun stuff.

I look forward to your input, and happy holidays

I just ordered Multicharts they have a special offer on until the end of the year, if you buy one license you get another one for free.

I've been playing with the alpha version for a few days now and it looks good so far, although I'm still getting used to the order entry setup for chart trading . I was told that the public beta will be out in the end of Jan.

Hi MC,

Yes, got an email today with regards to the offer, but it only lasts until tomorrow, any way to get an extension on that offer as I was going to see if a mate of mine here in Aus wanted to go halve on the deal.

Quick question though, will MC ever add some chart trading functionality to the platform other than automated trading?

Cheers.

You got someone to split with on this deal? Im keen, how does this work though with 2 licences? Do you just need a 2nd reg name or do you just get a Key for it?

Also, just read about the Alpha version and the order entry for chart trading, I think I will check this out starting next cal month.

From their terms:
Both licenses will be issued at the same time and directly to the buyer only. Licenses are not transferrable.

Regarding the order entry - though it's early alpha, I really like what I'm seeing so far.

I just got the two licenses for myself. I was also curious and asked about sharing the licenses and was told they don't track who is using it, just how many computers are connected live...

They provide just one key which is valid for 2 concurrent connections.

Thanks for that Snoopy.

Interesting terms though as in, certainly not transferable, but I thought this was like a 2 for 1 deal. My mistake.

Would this not depend on your trading style, I mean I have no need for 2 licensed versions on 2 different systems yet I guess there are others out there whom would and actually do.

Cheers Xevian,

I guess if they dont track who uses the 2nd license then it must not matter then, but with one key for two people who may want to go 50 split on the purchase, one would want it in their name to gain the tax benefits unless the other gives a separate receipt.

Am interested to know what and how others use licenses on different machines, as in is the other machine for back testing whilst trading on the other, or trading other instruments or indexes or what.

Add/Edit:

Wow, Just checked out the Alpha screens located here: https://www.multicharts.com/traders-blog/?p=89

Looks pretty much what I am looking for, as it makes a blend of NT features and the MC features, so good one.

Any time frame on a release date for this version 7 at all?
