Josh,

1) You can not get it better. This is a limitation with MC. I have suggested an independent adjustment for the spacing only to support, but my impression is that it is not on the high priority list. You could do a feature request. I'll vote for it The best I have come up with is bar spacing 4 or 8.

2) It is a while ago I spoke to MC about it and I think they mentioned version 8 for implementing Time and Sales. If you had the licensed version I think there is a couple of indicators for it.

Laurus

Thanks so much for your reply Laurus. Essentially there are 3 things that NT has that I now realize MC does not that I "need":

1) T&S
2) bar spacing--ok I don't need this, but I can get pretty much any look on NT candles I want and I like my candles
3) chart trading: from what I read earlier, it looks like the chart trader on a data-only chart (say, IQFeed) will not show open orders that are active on a broker feed (say, TT feed in my case); this defeats the purpose of having the chart trader to begin with in this case, obviously

I could live without #2 but no T&S and no chart trading make it difficult to switch. NT only does one thing which I totally abhor at the moment, and I can get around it for now I suppose.

If one wants to chart an instrument, stock, future, etc, must that person first manually add it through MC's Quote Mgr? That's the way it seems, but maybe I'm mistaken.

If that is the case, is there a way to pull-in the whole NASDAQ, NYSE, etc? I realize most here are into futures, and I can see why, but there are times I want to chart stocks, and quite a few of them. I'd prefer not to have to open TOS or other app that doesn't require such addition; especially when MC charts are so nice.

Less important... Is there a way to arrange the tabbed workspaces? I'd like to group them, put them in specific sequence...

Yes, that is what I tried to do, but the chart trader wont show your active orders on other then broker feed chart.
BUT! This made me realize that the sooner I get used to separating CHARTING from TRADE MANAGEMENT the better. I just picked up the software that fullfils my individual needs, got used to it, and am happy (like X_trader for trades execs and MD + DTN IQ for charting)

Not sure why this is better zury, but I'm glad you have something that works for you!

Yeah, it s just my personal opinion after juggling with vast variety of software, not forcing anyone to follow it The advantage (as I see it) is that once you separate it, you become less dependant on one particular software solution.

Thanks TonyB -- I downloaded it and confirmed that I can now connect to my TT-based broker. Tried the DOM, liked it a lot (well, except the semi-static functionality but I understand the $ behind it). One problem was that when I exited there were a couple of processes still running (TTFix and TradingPlatform or something to the effect) which I had to manually kill, else I could not reconnect using NT.

I'll say that at the present moment, due to the 3 things I'm looking for (earlier post) that aren't there, I won't be switching this week, but I will most definitely be interested in checking things out in another few months particularly when 7.1 or so is released.

You are welcome Josh.

I have some wish list items too, but I am liking MC quite a bit. I am apt to purchase MC at some point when those changes are realized.

I remain a little bummed that I can't just chart a stock easily whenever I want. As an example, my pop just called and mentioned a stock that he's been following. I couldn't chart it in MC (which I had open at the time) without having to go through QM first, which I didn't want to do for a one-off check... I see an import feature that might be a "solution", but I'm not sure...

#1 Should be addressed fairly soon. From my experience, these guys take care of business when they say...
