Thank you for your answer. But I must say I am quite disappointed from this...or maybe I am not. It depends - is this bug (I will call it bug ) on Alpha only or is it going to be even on beta public release? You say it will be repaired in upcoming releases but you don't say which one.

Regarding symbol mapping - my hope is that MC allows a 3rd party quote vendor (ie iqfeed) to handle the history and the broker data feed for realtime data, or 3rd party for both.
My preference is to use executing broker for real time, but some may have other preference.

Right now, symbol mapping works, but chart trading does not show the trades for mapped symbols. If you use an IB chart and trade on IB - the orders will be visible in the DOM (for the same symbol), on the chart, in TWS, and in the tracker. If you use an IQFeed chart and trade on IB, the orders will be visible in TWS and in the Tracker.

We are planning to improve this in upcoming releases, but one step at a time.

I don't think so. This is the only "bug" I found so far...

It's not a bug. A bug is when something doesn't perform as expected. With the symbol mapping, it performs as expected, because we haven't built that functionality yet. It's an upcoming feature development, and I can't give you a precise ETA, simply because we don't know yet. It won't be in the upcoming beta, but maybe it will be in the release.

You can do this already.

I'm talking about version 7 MCDT. Mapping does not work properly with chart trading and I want to ensure MC covers all variations when they do introduce the functionality.

Gotcha. Chart trading. Remove chart trading, and you can do what you asked -- historical from one source, realtime from another.

Be sure and give us your review at some point

Mike

I turned MultiCharts on yesterday and so far managed to blow away my setting on IB's server (a lot of data that I could recover but it's old and probably needed deleting--I'm bored with it--and desync the strategy under NT that pays the bills Still in a bit of a learning curve it turns out.

That said, got to enjoy a little manual trading and resync the strategy under NT.

Love the charts, managed to import an indicator (MurreyMath from futures.io (formerly BMT) archives). Still don't know enough EL / PL to translate my indicators and strategies but the trial is young.

I installed Multicharts DT. Do I need to setup symbols in Quote Manager manually or should they work from the box?

I use Zenfire data. It connects to data feed. But when I select "File - New - Chart Window" with default settings:

NQ #F - Exchange - CME

It shows black screen with the message "Establishing connection... (H: Connecting RT: Online)" and nothing happens any more.

The same problem for Bonds market ZB #F - Exchange - CBOT.

What's wrong there? I guess instrument settings are not good?

Chipmunk, go back a few pages in this thread and you'll see Zen Fire discussions. You have to set up the instruments manually.

Try here and the few posts after it:

Hi,

There seems to be all kinds of discussions/subjects under the one thread of "Multicharts, Multicharts............."
How about starting new threads for different Multichart topics.

It would make things so much easier to find. I.e. "Multicharts - Zenfire Discusssion" etc.

Neil.
