Hi All,

I want to get started in programming up some systems in Multicharts.

I have downloaded the demo and am currently looking for some tutorials if you know of any? Just basic stuff like how to code up a basic system and then how to backtest it across 1 or multiple symbols and then how to optimize it.

I am currently reading tradestation EL_Getting_Started.pdf from the multicharts site to get familiar with the language but am just looking for videos preferably on how to get started with Multicharts.

Edit: I have done some coding before mainly vbscripting.

Also there is no register button for the Multicharts forum so I assume you have to purchase it before you can become a member of the forum....

Cheers,

You might take a look at this quick video, if I remember correctly I show how to create a simple strategy:

Yes, you have to be a customer before you can register on their forum.

Hi Bigmike.

I'm also looking for a STABLE Solution to switch from Ninja to X?
You mentioned Multichart. Have you any experience with Mirus/Zenfire/Multichart?
I' d seen that the Data Feed Zenfire is supported, but also the broker Mirus? In MC forum, they that yes, but...

thanks for your feedback.

Zen Fire is supported, that means Mirus, Amp, etc. It's been said earlier in this thread, but Zen Fire has extremely limited historical backfill of like 3 days I think. So if you only have Zen Fire, you won't have backfill beyond that. IQFeed is the best data feed provider, works with all platforms, and has excellent backfill. If you can't afford IQFeed, then Zen Fire will work just without backfill.

Does Multicharts support stop limit orders?

I've just read in their forum that it cannot, even in version 7.

That would kill the product stone dead for me. Surely it can't be correct - can it?

MC 7 does support stop limit orders in the DOM and chart trader. I can't speak for the issue on the forum.

Thanks, Snoop. Thats a relief, though it sounds like a bit of an afterthought.

How is the backtester in MC? I see that they do portfolio back testing, which is good news.

I think it does intrabar tick by tick analysis, but are the MC backtester results reliable? If the backtester is very good, it is probably worth subscribing to MC just for that.
