According to the official "MC .Net coming soon" webpage, there will be a free version.

I'm curious how much you can do with that free version.

From the MC webpage:

Question on blog
I realize that you have a 30 Day trial option for your software. But, a competitor allows you to use a full version for free to develop software until you can create a strategy and then you can purchase the platform. Why don’t you have the same thing?

MC Support answer
We don’t offer the same thing mainly because we have different approaches. We believe it’s better to have a free 30-day fully-enabled trial, so that you know exactly what you are getting, as opposed to giving away a reduced version for free.

@Jura: They have launched the .Net webpage. No sign of "Free Version" anymore like in the "draft" a couple of days before.

33% cheaper than the "regular" version...gotta say I'm a bit surprised at that since it's clearly the more powerful tool. I wonder if the .net pricing is going to remain lower in the future too.

Yeah, it's here! I'm also pleasantly surprised by the competitive price.

If you click on the blue 'Try' button you're taking to a page where you can request a free 30 free day trail: Free Trading Software

There the same free version is offered as was communicated in the blog posts. I'm not sure where you got the impression there will be a free version (free like NinjaTrader), since I only saw references to a free trail (also free, but another type of free ).

If you hadn't seen that post before you could easily get the impression of an real free version like Ninjatrader: First, Free Version is not the same as Trial. Second, on the draft of the "Coming soon" page, there was a menu with the entry "Free Version", whereas on the normal MC with EasyLanguage webpage, there is an an menu for "Trial Version". Now on the launched website, they have removed "Free Version" for MC .Net.

So it was just a guess from my side due to all the misleading signs and some of my own strategic thought. But as you showed in the post of the blog, MC has an different strategic view.

Jura, I'm in the same boat. A couple weeks back while searching the web on .NET and C#, I actually found some free PDF books and downloaded them to my iPad. One is called "Pro C# 2010 and the .NET 4 Platform" and another is "C# School 14 lessons to get you started with C# and .NET". I'm not certain how good or relevant these are to MC's to be offering, but figured I'd start there, when time permits. I have some air travel coming soon, so maybe then...

I am reviewing the multichart.Net platform also

Not a vendor, just a trader. I do not sell anything. Current studies involve EasyLanguage, Money Management and Technical Analysis. Do Enjoy: Fibs, S / R's , Eliotts, Cycles, Trends , Skews. Not Enjoy: fundamentals, Main St Media . It's all about keeping your emotions out of trading and work a system. Appreciate all insight as will be returned. Scotty B.

From the MC .Net trial signup page:

NOTE: MultiCharts .NET requires that you have .NET Framework 3.5 (not 3.0 or 4.0) installed.

And latest build of Sierra Charts requires .NET Framework 4.0 (*). Does it mean that we can not have MC .NET and Sierra Chart work on the same computer?

Nicolas

(*) Reference: URGENT: Upgraded to the latest version but unable to launch SC - Sierra Chart
