If someone has the last installer file for MCDT, I'd say zip it up and attach it to this thread for safe keeping. I am assuming MC won't have a problem with that, since they don't support it any longer.
I've got Release 7.4 build 79, which is about 45 MB zipped (the exe is about 52 MB).
But I would advise against uploading on the forum. I'm not so sure that unsupported means MCDT now is public domain... copyright would still apply.
I'm live trading with it through IB, and happy with it but it has some quircks :
- P&L displayed on the chart not always correct, but doesn't matter, just keep an eye on the avg price line on the chart
- Bid/Ask/Last updates are a fraction behind with what I'm seeing in IB's TWS
- Just today entered new symbol to use IB SMART exchange, and MCDT always routes orders to PSX which has wider spreads (and with a .3$ surplus per order because exchange has been specified by MCDT) - tried deleting cache, recreating symbol, ...doesn't help. Placing the order through IB TWS goes indeed SMART
"We encourage all MCDT users to upgrade to the full MultiCharts license at attractive upgrade prices to continue getting latest features, updates and support. Contact our sales department for more details."
I can't call at them at the moment, but anyone know what the special upgrade price is?
Nicolas11,
Thanks for your info. Sorry to reply a little late though.
The feed is indeed coming from the broker (IB).
There is a known issue with IB's api and MC(DT) when it retrieves the p&l from IB. For some reason the average p&l is sometimes returned, instead of the current p&l.
Also , the bid/ask mismatch between IB and MC(dt) can be explained by MC(dt) displaying the quotes for one market (eg PSX), while the quotes displayed in IB are SMART exchange. In MC's quote manager the market for the instrument is defined as SMART, so why it's diplaying bid/ask for PSX ?
Anyway, not important as it's discontinued. Still evaluating replacements...
