New multicharts user here. Been using NT for a while and wanting to switch to MC. Here are some Qs that I hope some people can help me with:

- How can you tell MC how much data to load on a chart (lookback period?). For exemple, I treade via a 1H chart but all I can see is about the last 2 days. How can I view the last 7-8 days? I'm used to scrolling back a lot to see trends and switching to a higher timeframe (1 day) doesn't do a good job.

- Is it possible to add timeframes such as 4h?

- Is there a quick way to change the instrument like in NT? In NT you can just select it top left. In MC you have to right click and change the instrument in the popup etc.

Love MC compared to NT so far. Far less bug, prettier interface and better features. Just hope some advanced MC users can answer these few questions.

Just "right click" on the chart and select " format instruments" and you can select any time frame and days of data to load..Make sure it says "days back" and not "bars back"...(sometimes defaults to "bars back")..
The shortcut to changing symbols is the window that says "type a symbol"., just enter your symbol and hit "enter" and it's there..

ohhh I get it. different way to do it but equally satisfying.

Thanks for the A, I knew I was missing something!

Btw is there a way to setup multiple templates for charts like in NT? I know I can set some defaults but having multiple templates would be the only thing missing I think and I can't find the option.

I don't know about "multiple templates" , but MC does have templates for saving studies and charts- look at "format" , "study templates" ..

You can customize one chart and apply the same instrument settings to all your future charts with the help of "use as default" checkbox at the bottom of the tab (ex. Format->Instrument->Style tab). "Use as default" is also available for indicators and signals settings.

Hi everyone, A few quick questions..

If I execute a trade from say Bracket Trader, will MultiCharts be able to plot the entry's and exits, and even possibly map the stop/profit targets?

I assume if so, MC then requires to be on the Master ClientID? (this would be an issue as I currently have a C2 signal sender on the Master Client ID :/)

Again assuming MC can see these orders and plot them, I presume that I could view the trades reporting tools/stats output?

Last question is, are the discretionary trade reports/stats the exact same as the backtesting output stats? e.g. do they incorporate MAE, MFE etc

Thanks

Long time Tradestation user here...(charting only) use NT for execution...have questions on MC

are exits in the DOM programmable for OCO bracket orders similar to NT with trailing stops...or does this have to programmed using a strategy...

is there any limitations on EL code...will it play custom .wav files...ADE..Global variables etc...

data feed...can't seem to run zenfire on MC and NT simulataneously from broker for test...what is most solid data vendor for MC?

thanks,

9baller

1. Yes, they have an "atm" in their DOM.
2. No limitations. I assume you are talking about MC and not MCDT of course.
3. Email your broker and tell them you want two concurrent logins enabled for your account.

Mike

Hello Dubstrading,

MultiCharts is able to plot on the chart the supported order types (Limit, Market, Stop, Stop limit) even if they were sent from the Bracket Trader. Unsupported order types will be present only on the Orders tab of the Order and position tracker window, no actions are allowed on these orders.
MultiCharts requires being on the Master ClientID of TWS to do that.
If you are using the supported order types and they are plotted on the chart-you can access Trading performance report from the View tab. Trading performance report has MAE and MFE analysis tools.

Does MC support adding auto trade management to open positions?

For example I have an open position which has gone past my profit target and I want to let it run but add a trailing stop so that the profits are sort of locked in.
