Download NinjaTrader (for free) and pay for a live data feed such as Kinetick or use NinjaTraders built-in Market Replay and download futures market data (for free) to replay a non-live data feed. See NinjaTraders site for training videos on how to do all this.

EDIT: So sorry... didn't realize this was posted in MultiCharts forum.

I believe that you can get free data from some Forex brokers like FXCM or MB Trading, both of which are compatible with MultiCharts.

You can get some limited trial/demo accounts from some futures brokers, you can find a list of common ones in the Brokers and Data Feeds section of the forum.

I've never used it, but I think that if you are trading equities then MultiCharts can use Google Finance or Yahoo Finance as a data source, but it will be delayed.

Hello MoreYummy,

I'm currently using the MC demo for 30 days. I created a demo account at ZenFire to get the real time data for futures.

There is also a way to connect freely to a demo environement of IB for free RT data and demo account.

1) download their software : https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/control/systemstandalone.php?os=win&ib_entity=llc
2) install TWS from the .exe you just downloaded
3) once installed, launch "Trader Workstation 4.0" from your Desktop (not in start menu I guess ! at least not on my windows 7 box)

4) login with username "edemo", password "demouser"

5) Once the platform opened, click on the top menu entry 'Configure'

Then go to the entry 'settings --> API' and be sure that the checkbox "Enable ActiveX ans Socket Clients" is checked.
Also, add "127.0.0.1" in the Trusted IP list

6) Leave TWS opened and launch Multicharts. Your data feed should be available. Open the quotemanager, and add an instrument from IB by selecting IB from the drop down list of data sources

If you have any issue, just tell me so that we can figure that out together (it works fine for me).

By the way, there is also the MT4 method if you are a forex person which works well, described here (you need a demo account on any forex MT4 broker)

how do you address the issue of having very diverging data with your demo-tws. i tried that now and ended up with 250 points difference from my iqfeed-powered MC.

for example: i go long in DAX at iqfeed 7.003 but end up long @ 6.746 with IB ;-)

Sounds strange. I suggest that you plot on the same chart ("Insert Instrument") the IQFeed data and the IB data to better visualize and understand the issue.

Nicolas
