I'm sure there has to be a way to look it up on your platform but if not call your broker and ask what the symbol is. My charting is with Tradestation and they use different symbols on some of the instruments so maybe MC does too.
If it helps the symbol on mine is DXZ11.....Z being December
I did chat with IB twice...... two differents days...... with the same guy... unlucky I was...... Loosing my time with a supposedly expert in IB services, but was in fact uninformed.
I was put on hold often and at the end, nothing as been resolved. I will try to avoid IB technical services for few time (maybe this service guy will have been showed where is the door)
I'm pretty sure it's the DX on NYBOT, add symbol through the wizard and search in the Index tab. There is also a "CME Dollar Index" which doesn't sound right. Underlying symbol is USS and trades on Globex.

Please send me a private message if you have any further questions about MultiCharts
As you may know you can view and chart the Dollar Index in TWS by entering the symbol DX as the underlying in a portfolio window then selecting Index (rather than future, say) in the resulting popup window that opens when you press the TAB key.
To open a DX chart from your 3rd party platform (in my case NT, in yours apparently MC) you have to refer to the corresponding instrument, first creating the DX Index with the MC equivalent of NT's Instrument Manager if necessary.
For example, in NT the future is present as DX 12-11 at the moment so I had to create DX as a new index and map it to IB's DX Index. In NT mapping is just a matter of specifying that DX in this case (represented by ^DX in instrument lists, where the circumflex indicates "Index") is an Index rather than a future, and specifying NYBOT as the exchange, which maps it automatically to the DX index on NYBOT in IB.
This presumes you are subscribed to NYBOT as you suggest and that the TWS interface is connected to the corresponding data farm (Market data button bottom right TWS window is green--sometimes connections break :-/ )
Edited to add: BTW--I feel your pain. You don't need to be a "rocket surgeon" to use TWS but it helps, and if support staff is willing and able to help they rarely seem able to view the problem from the user's perspective. All part of life's rich pageantry :-/
