hi,
does anyone know of the best way to try out a futures demo account with Multicharts. I want to test their Demo account before considering buying it.
thanks in advance
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
hi cw30000, thanks for your reply. i'm about 2 weeks into the MC trial but want to connect to a broker so I can try out their DOM trader etc. Is there a futures broker that I can get a demo that'll work with MC ? kinda like AMP Futures has a nice demo with NT. thanks for your feedback
If you want to check the order execution in a demo account, you'll need a broker which provides an demo, real-time account with fictional dollars that you can trade with. Sadly, the Zen-Fire demo (for example through AMP Futures) provides real-time data for various future contracts (so you can see the DOM in real-time), but doesn't have a demo account. you can not execute trades against this data.
I don't know a futures broker which provides an real-time account that can be traded. Interactive Brokers does provide an demo account, but you'll have to have an funded account with them to trade against real data.
There is an Interactive Brokers demo account with fake data purely for testing functionality, but I forget the credentials. Maybe @MultiCharts can post the info.
or you can setup a real account with IB - deposit approx $2000 - sign up for a datafeed and trade as if it was real - with demo money - thats how I did it initially. The total cost will be the feed data + IB is charging a small fee I believe it is approx $ 10,- pr month a very cost effective way to learn how to trade.
Good news for anyone using ZenFire: We are almost finished testing a built-in simulator for ZenFire (broker profile ZenFire Sim). You'll see two SIM accounts which you can trade. Orders will be filled within MultiCharts, while charts and DOM will be using real-time data. When you are ready to trade, just switch to the ZenFire broker profile and you are good to go.
It should be available before end of Oct.

login: edemo (fdemo also works for financial advisor emulation)
pass: demouser
Data has nothing to do with real data, so this only hints at how IB really works. If you want a full Sim account that works with real market data - fund an account with IB and they give you sim for free.
