I think such a feature is far, far away. First they have to create an entire simulation engine.

Hello,

I too created a request for Multicharts simulation engine. This request was created 6 months back. I got only 13 votes. Can you also vote for this? Below is the URL.

https://www.multicharts.com/pm/viewissue.php?issue_no=MC-1129

Thanks,
Mohi

I can't point which thread but I remember reading that this is being developed although they didn't give any time table for it. Version 9 will focus on portfolio trading.

A complete SIM trade in MC is a huge addon and I'm certain it's not an easy task. The way I see this is for them to offer SIM trading capabilities other things must be accomplished first.
For example, replay capabilities for volume profile and volume delta bars. It makes no sense offering SIM trade capabilities if you cannot use it over the full length of tools that MC provides. It needs to be fully integrated with all tools. The latest one, volume profile has not yet replay capabilities so it would be impossible to use it in SIM trade. Naturally I'm assuming here that SIM trade would be an actual replay of the market.

I'm also eager to have a SIM trade option on MC since it's the best way to test strategies, algo and discretionary ones but I really can't see this to be offered any time soon. Let's see what version 10 will bring.

Arnie,

Thanks for the update. Please note that NinjaTrader has Market Replay Option, which is tightly integrated with all NinjaTrader Tools as well as with the 350 NinjaTrader Partner Add-on tools, which makes NinjaTrader superior to all platforms (in many features and more specifically in simulated trading with Market Replay).

As far as volume profile, volume delta bars are concerned, the way NinjaTrader MARKET REPLAY works is that, the market replay is in the original speed (even if you try to run it 500 times faster), BECAUSE top 5 bid & ask, icebergs, volume delta bars can only be displayed correctly if the market replay is in original speed.
NinjaTrader is excellent tool to do this AND integrates with all the 3rd party add-on tools.

I saw an article, wherein many Tradestation users said they are completely moving to NinjaTrader, due to this excellent MARKET REPLAY option, which no platform in the world can provide so comprehensively as NinjaTrader can provide.

Thanks & Regards,
Mohi

I never tested Ninja so I really can't speak much about their tools.
But if Ninja has the SIM trade built in since the beginning it's no wonder all tools that came afterwards work with it.

As far as I remember users only started to really request SIM trade on MC this past year so it's natural things will take their time. You have a lot of features request, many with several years so we can only imagine the work the developers have to choose which one to develop and integrate them on the platform without messing anything else.

Let me give you an example, a simple thing as download/reload missing data automatically due to a lost of connection (something already requested in the Project Management) can create major problems for algo strategies. So what looked a simple thing for us users became a serious problem for developers and needs to be well thought and well developed so all parties are happy with the end result.

That is actually one of the complaints I most read about Ninja. 3rd party addons sometimes are not that well developed, ending up messing Ninja, making it to crash. But that is not only a problem of Ninja, it's a problem of all software that uses 3rd party addons.
The biggest example is Microsoft Windows. How many problems have you had with Windows due to some program that interferes with something on Windows making it to crash or making the program itself to crash?

I was always against a closed platform, like Apple, but nowadays I see the advantages of it. Look at iOS and Android. Every app developed for iOS works fine, not a single problem. Apps developed for Android, some work fine on Samsung phones but fail to work on HTC phones and vice versa. It's a mess.

All this to say that I have mix feelings regarding 3rd party addons. They are great when the developers of the program really don't give a sh*t about their clients and so the only way is to have that 3rd party developer coding the tools users need but at the same time if the addon is not fully developed or the program changes something that makes the addon not work anymore the user might be left alone without any support if in the meantime the addon developer closed doors.

Every company has its business model and no one can argue with it but if we think about it and if we hear what Ninja CEO said on the webinar when someone asked if they would develop built in volume profile tools he said that they didn't know yet since they wouldn't won't to interfere with the 3rd party developers that already coded such tools for Ninja. Personally I see this as something that put Ninja in disadvantage against their competitors because they are not allowing themselves to develop the platform because in a way they feel they are restrained by the 3rd party developers.

Not sure if that is really a good way to conduct business...

Excellent summary of a massive dilemma. Caveat Emptor. Ninja Rocks for me. For some it won't. That's life.

Hello Arnie,

The Multicharts customer service is closing tickets, without resolving them. I created this request MC-1129, about 6 months back for simulated trading engine WITH market replay option. Below is the URL for MARKET REPLAY option request for Multicharts MultiCharts Project Management - Issue MC-1129 - [AUTOLINK]Multicharts[/AUTOLINK]: Market Replay - Sim Broker of Stimulated Trading, which was closed today, without a resolution or an update from MC Customer service.

It got 14 votes for MARKET REPLAY option feature request (for Multicharts) in the past 6 months.
Today I got an email, stating that a ticket for MARKET REPLAY OPTION in MULTICHARTS, that I created 6 months back is closed, due a duplicate request MC-127: Data Window Header Background Color Option to Change, created a month ago.
Multicharts customer service is terrible due to following reasons.
1- They closed my ticket MC 1129 (created 6 months) back for MARKET REPLAY option in Multicharts, without resolving it (EVEN after 6 months)?
2- Also they are closing a 6 month old ticket, which has 14 VOTES, thus insulting the multicharts customer service voting option.

NINJATRADER is awesome and has spendid customer support, since it never closes 6 months old tickets, without resolving them, like Multicharts does.

Thanks,
Mohi
