Just a quick question...is the spread on MT4 based on the broker used for the demo account? or is it just a generic mt4 spread? I'm with FXCM and it's pretty unrealistic when trying to trade! Not sure if I set it up correctly or missed something.

Thanks

Yes...from all the forex Brokers i used it is based on their formula...some better than others.
Spreads will be much wider around news time , and in off hours for that pair.
if you allow the spread to show on the screen along with bid line you will be able to see how large
the spread actually is compared to size chart you are trading on.
Over the week end it will be really wide from what i remember.

There are also some indicators that can be downloade from the metatrader codebase which display the amount of spread on the chart.

Based on the broker. There will be also differences sometime between a demo and a real account, as well as between different account types with the same broker.
