Library Download Issues...

Hey Everyone,
Has anyone else on Mac had issues with Ilya's library install? When I run the following code in R I keep getting an error. I've now tried it with 3.0.3, 3.1.0, and the latest version, with no luck.

install.packages("quantstrat", repos="ht://R-Forge(dot)R-project(dot)org")

yields:

Warning in install.packages :
cannot open: HTTP status was '404 Not Found'
Warning in install.packages :
cannot open: HTTP status was '404 Not Found'
Warning in install.packages :
unable to access index for repository R-Forge(dot)R-project(dot)org/bin/macosx/contrib/3.1

package ‘quantstrat’ is available as a source package but not as a binary

Warning in install.packages :
package ‘quantstrat’ is not available (for R version 3.1.0)

Note that I had to edit the links otherwise the forum would not let me post.

Hi, I got the same error.

What I had to do was : download the following from https://r-forge.r-project.org/R/?group_id=316
1. blotter_0.8.19.tar.gz
2. FinancialInstrument_1.1.9.tar.gz
3. quantstrat_0.8.2.tar.gz

Install them from the osx terminal like this "R CMD INSTALL FinancialInstrument_1.1.9.tar.gz"
The order matters, due to dependencies. Also, some dependencies can be fixed using install.packages() in R itself.

Not sure if this is the correct way to do things, but it's how I got it to work. BTW, I'm using R 3.1.1

I managed to get some of the librarys installed, but install_github was not working, and then the blotter was missing, and it was all a complete mess. That being said I completely uninstalled everything and deleted everything. I'll try from scratch later, although I'm not expecting anything different.

Concerns with R-forge seem to be a more common occurrence than I thought. Here's a good link on starting to resolve the problems:

svn - Cannot install R-forge package using install.packages - Stack Overflow

FWIW, I am using R 3.1.1 and installed his package from github without any problem. I also have no problem with quantstrat.

$version.string
[1] "R version 3.1.1 (2014-07-10)"

I'm using the Linux version naturally.

Mike

Thx for fast reply, I am using the windows version. Which may be part of the problem. Although same R version and build you have.

A quick guess would be maybe you aren't running R as administrator.
