eSignal and R

Has anyone been able to get data into R using the eSignal data feed? I can easily save data from eSignal as CSV file and then import data to R.

Does the eSignal has an API, with simple socket functions ?
If yes, R can act as a socket client, and get the required data.

eSignal has a desktop API. I can get access to that, but what would be the step to get the data to R?

Why would you want to though? I'm pretty sure R is going to be a poor choice for real time systems.
Would just make more sense to save your data to flat files or database then query with R off line/non real time.
