Howdy, I'm wondering if anyone knows how to create a possible permutations matrix.
As an example, say you had 3 variables, [X Y Z]. And those 3 variables all could have 4 possible positions (A B C D). Given this data, one could have 64 possible combinations, such as:
Does anyone know how to generate this array in matlab, or excel or anything of the like? I just need to list, and that's it, I don't need to do anything with this array beyond capturing the various arrays that I need.
Not exactly the way I want, but I think I have something workable. Did this in matlab so maybe this thread could be moved to that section if it makes sense.
As mentioned before I needed to create a matrix for 3 variables, with 4 possible scenarios each, so 64 possible combinations total.
I know how to do a matrix for 4 variables, with 4 possible scenarios, which is 256 possible combos. So I did that shown in the pic in matlab, exported this array to excel, and deleted the left outermost column, and then all the rows below 65, which I think leaves me with the matrix I want.
