An update from Bill @ LinnSoft.

He says that Investor/RT 10.6, which will be in beta in a couple weeks or so, will now work with Terminal Services (Remote Desktop). This also means it will work with virtual private servers via RDP.

Any existing user that needs this capability prior to 10.6 can contact LinnSoft support for an immediate fix.

Mike

FWIW - I use Teamviewer, which is expensive but very good at remote access - esp for multi-screens...

Wouldn't have made any difference for this problem. The issue was not RDP, but OS's capable of multiple sessions.

Can I Use a Remote Desktop Connection to run Investor/RT?
No. The License System that Investor/RT uses does not permit the product to be activated when the user running Investor/RT is using Windows Remote Access (Terminal Services). Some remote login systems, e.g. LogMeIn (https://www.logmein.com), can be used to run Investor/RT on a remote machine as long as the remote login software does not use Microsoft Terminal Services to make the connection to the remote machine.

The license activation system used by Linn Software has not changed. About a year ago, we revised our license policy to permit license activation on server operating systems and when operating Investor/RT over a Remote Desktop connection. Many of our clients wish to utilize Investor/RT in this way and we made this policy change with the best interests of our subscribers in mind. This also opens up the use of Investor/RT on a virtual private server where the client can employ a desktop, laptop, or a mobile device to operate the software over an RDP connection.
