Big Mike,

I didn't see anything specific after searching, so I hope this hasn't been addressed already.

Is there a way to automatically provide links in the appropriate download section to indicators, templates, etc. that appear as attachments in the body of messages? Or maybe all attachments should go directly to the appropriate download section with only the links to the Download section appearing in the message body.

While I often find something interesting in the course of searching the resultant messages for an indicator, the search process for a particular indicator would be more efficient if I only had to go directly to the Download tab and search there.

Also, finding all of the variants of an indicator in one place rather than spread across potentially several related messages would assure folks they're getting the latest and greatest files (or an older one if desired).

Just something for consideration that might improve a really great site!

Yes it is less than ideal. I spent a few months and hundreds of dollars designing an entirely new system last year, then the developer went a-wall after we ran into several technical problems before they got resolved. So, the new system has not been implemented.

We'll have to make do with what we have for now.

In general, I used to encourage everyone to post in the Downloads section because there was no way to search posts/threads for attachments. Later I gave up on that, and just let people do what they want to do, and I created an "Attachment Search" feature that allows Elite members to search all posts/threads on the entire forum for attachments embedded in the post.

Unfortunately because none of these things (attachment search, downloads search) are part of the original vBulletin design, they have to be searched separately and are not integrated into a single index.
