Several bug fixes overnight. Testers, please test

I'm sorry I stopped posting here. I felt like it was too negative and so I held my tongue. I knew it would be fixed and being critical is not my style.

However, here are images of the Dark and Light themes,
I voted for the Dark Theme but seeing it in real time is not my favorite.
It seems to purple. That is strange for me since I'm an LSU Tiger and our colors are purple and gold. LOL.

At this point I prefer the Light Theme.
It seems most of the issues I saw have been resolved.
i.e the search box not allowing search, thanks being wrong color, and other background/font colors.

I have not noticed any other issues today.
I can handle either theme, I welcome the updates and better Google attention.
I've noticed a lot of new people joining lately which is a good thing.

Hi Mike: I think there has always been a problem uploading YouTubes - the video occupies the entire post. Perhaps someone can reduce the size of video uploads so that they're not so big.

Last week I wasn't getting my notifications - seems to have resolved itself now.

I like the new format. Any testing you want done, just mention it here - happy to help. The new format is up and running today. Looks good.

I like everything. Sorry I could not be of more help but the new setup looks pretty good and is a definite improvement.

I noticed something about the reply.
My post was all single line spacing when submitted.
When you quoted me it was changed to double line spacing.
Is that supposed to be that way?

That's a bug, good catch. Added to list.

Ok guys, let's do another round of broad based testing and feedback.

Dark mode disabled for the time being, as it needs some work on colors.

Everyone has new light theme right now (if not, logout and back in).

Please share actionable feedback when you can, in this thread, and together we will arrive at a great new theme.

The old layout is being deprecated, so I welcome your constructive criticism of the new layout choices -- as that is what we will be using. Give me actional feedback and we will improve it together.

As Renkotrader already mentioned, the new layout adds a lot of additional margins to many elements, so the compactness is gone. The relation of text sizes in elements is quite bad. For Instance the market price banner / Logo in the top waste to much space. If i Open the "New posts" list i see less lines as before (at once).

@Koepisch The large logo is the result of adblocker being active - the logo jumps to being larger when the ad on the right-top of homepage cant be shown. I think bobwest mentioned is here some time ago.

@BigMike Working on the light theme first seems like a good idea. Once the padding/margin is settled on, maybe the compacted dark theme will look too colorful and that's going to be the right time to discuss the dark colors.

Some of the things that were mentioned before have been fixed, great! Some remain, I found two new ones:

1/ when I click a username next to a post, the "Find More Posts By userXYZ" leads to the same result as clicking "Find Threads Started by userXYZ". I think the latter is broken.

2/ on homepage, I click "Ask a question". The popup I get could have the question space and the summary space aligned, as per screenshot. Also, when I resize the question box using the corner in the green rectangle, if I drag it a lot to right, it starts influecing the layout of parent divs and and eventually, the corner can be dragged so far right that is gets insivible.



I think both could be solved if the question box and the summary box had the same width as the parent box minus padding.
