Hi guys,
futures io is challenging members to create the best NinjaTrader indicators and share them to our "Downloads" section, for a chance to win some prizes!
Why NinjaTrader
I am specifically calling for NinjaTrader indicators at this time. I realize there are plenty of members that use other great platforms, and we will include them soon in future challenges. For this particular challenge, we are focusing only on NinjaTrader 8 indicators.
How to add your indicator to our "Downloads" area
First, export your indicator in NinjaTrader to a zip file. Keep in mind that we do not permit closed source (DLL) indicators to be uploaded -- we only allow indicators where the full code is open to all, for safety and for the ability to easily modify and customize them.
If you need help exporting your indicator from NinjaTrader, please go ahead and ask in this thread.
Second, once you have the ZIP file, you'll need to take a screenshot of your NinjaTrader chart that contains the indicator example that you wish to share with other members. If you need help taking the screenshot, please ask in this thread. JPG and PNG is welcome.
(Optional) If your indicator would benefit from a discussion thread on the site, feel free to create a new thread that talks about the indicator. You should probably do that before submitting your indicator, so you can grab the URL for the thread, and add that to the description of the indicator so others may quickly jump to your thread.
Third, you need to Add to our Download section. Click this link to go directly to the Add Entry to NinjaTrader 8 Indicator page:
From this location, put the details of your indicator into the form and then when finished, click submit. You'll add the name of the indicator, a description, keywords (like EMA, ADR, Order Flow, Volume Profile), you'll upload the ZIP file from your computer, and you'll upload the screenshot of your chart as the image.
Don't worry about the other fields -- just leave them alone and at default values.
Last, click Submit at the bottom of the form to add the indicator to our site. Congrats! We appreciate your submission and sharing.

We will award three prizes for this specific event.
Only new indicators submitted after today will be considered.
Winners will be selected based on popularity -- determined by the number of comments/ratings the indicator receives. We cannot measure based on downloads, as it is too easy to cheat. So we measure based on number of comments/ratings each indicator receives, as it's common for people to rate the indicator they download. We ask you to be honest!
This specific event will run with an end date at the discretion of the moderator team here at futures io. In other words, we will review the new uploads, popularity, how many individuals have participated, how long the event has run, and use our best discretion to determine when a fair date would be to end the event.
Based on this, don't delay with your uploads! You are free to upload more than one indicator!
Prizes:
First place = $150 Amazon Gift Card
Second place = $100 Amazon Gift Card
Third place = $50 Amazon Gift Card
One prize per member. futures io reserves all judgment on how to award prizes or declare winners.
Thank you guys! Looking forward to seeing what you share...
I know you said the length of the contest will be up to the discretion of the mods... but do you think the time horizon might be on the order of weeks or months? Just curious?

Not a programmer?
No problem. You can still help! When you download an indicator from our site, please take the time to review/comment on it. The feedback helps the programmers, and it will also enable them to be one of the winners of this challenge!
Note: If you find bugs, have feature requests, or anything else, post in THIS (https://futures.io/ninjatrader/56493-my-indicator-thread-just-placeholder.html#post830676) thread.

@forrestang, Any chance you can modify the bar timer to count up the time bars are active for bars like renko, unirenko, etc... so you can see how stale they are in chop zones? If you see a large time - step away do not play.
I'd rather it be a NEW indie if I were going to tackle that project. The bartimer I made is already quite bloated.
Is there already such an indie in existence, and what you'd just like is the better customization, or is this an idea you haven't seen implemented anywhere yet?
The Implied Volatility (IV) Percentile indicator attempts to gauge IV. This is a simple oscillator that returns an IV value from 0 to 100 Percent that's within a selectable lookback period. The user can compare the IV value to either an adjustable axis …

Mike/bobwest I just uploaded an indicator (EdsLevel2CustomV1) but I am getting an error message when I try and download the file. Can either of you take the indicator down please until I can get it fixed?
Thanks,

Thanks Mike sorry for the problem. I was getting a duplicate Method error message when I tried to import the Add-On. I wanted to verify that it was not just my problem and it would be safe for fio members to download if they wanted. It is my first time posting an indicator and I wanted to get it right.
The indi runs fine on my system so I am not sure what the problem might be. There were 4 imports done including mine and no one indicated they were having any problems. Any thoughts or suggestions? Sorry to be a pain.
Thanks,
Mike if you are able to "unhide" my indicator, EdsLevel2CustomV1, it should be fine. My error message resulted from the exact same indicator already being installed on my system when I tried to Import the AddOn. It worked fine this morning.
Thanks,
LesP
Hello Traders, after downloading and using the Price Line indie that I downloaded from FIO, I decided that it would be nice to see where Stops might be as the price moves around. You can make these lines +/- ticks from the current price. In the pic, …

Hey guys. I am not a programmer or coder however I would like to share the indicators that I am currently using on my chart which find to be working for me. TDI; HIDDEN GAP NATIVE; FRACTALS SR LINES; MACD PLUS; MAPackage; CUMDELTADivergence:HMA Colour Change; Pivots; Dynamic Sr Lines: Volume Up/Down; Scalper; ScalpTrader and BREAKOUT RECOGNITION. All or most of these indicators were dowloaded from this site. I hope this help new and aspiring traders like myself. Thanks
.
If you are saying that your screenshot you attached to the file was not great -- I replaced it for you in the Download section, with the new image you attached here to your post which was higher resolution.

In this case, you should create a new trading journal to share your charts & thoughts and show your indicators. You can do so by creating a New Thread in the Trading Journals area or Elite Trading Journals.
For this thread & challenge, you should be the author of the indicator(s) and then share them in our Downloads section.
We like our MA's to show us the slope. An astute trader asked if I could color the EMA different colors for different slopes. This indie will paint two colors for positive and two colors for negative depending on slope. The slope triggers are set to …

Hello Traders...
This is another adaptation of the HMA. Big Mike built a similar indie years ago for NT7 and it was based on the EMA. I like the HMA because it hugs price better and changes direction sooner. This indie paints 2 HMAs that trail the …

Enhance the Download section so that when someone updates their indicator, it automatically notifies people that downloaded it -- instead of requiring my notification and then manual intervention.
Mike
To answer your question:
- Go to the link in the Download section
- Click the edit icon near right side
- You can alter the text block: I suggest you add a section that says UPDATED (date)
- Find the form input where you Choose File for the NinjaTrader zip export, and upload a new zip file
- Save
The system will replace the existing file with your new one.
The part that needs enhancement is that you then need to let me know manually, so that I can trigger an email update notification to let everyone know who downloaded the indicator, so they can download the new version (this is why the description update/changelog is important).

I used to love this site and at no fault of the site move away from NT8 because of their refusal to fix Point and Figure issues. However, I have some non-point and figure indicators that have proved to be gems.
I think I may share one of them.

Hi Mike,
The email announcement came out for my Eds Level 2 indicator but the email did not contain much useful info.
Just so you know. Is there anything that I can do to make the email generator more "user-readable"?
Thanks,

This indie looks at yesterdays High and Low and todays High and Low. It paints yesterdays High and Low on todays chart, as well as the mid and RMS values of yesterdays High and Low. The RMS values are estimated as 70.7% and 29.3% for a sine wave. It …
