I appreciate everyone's patience as I wrote new code to account for the new Challenge.

Congratulations to the top three winners: @Mich62, @hen322, and @vmodus!

Thanks to @SharkIndicators, these three members will be receiving a $500 store credit at the Shark Indicators store to purchase whatever they wish! I will reach out to you via Direct Message in a moment to arrange for those prizes.

I hope to continue to see more journals in the future... I trust everyone found the process useful!

Mike

Thanks @Big Mike, also for making it possible for like-minded people from all over the world to connect, communicate, learn and grow together.

Thanks to all who participated in my journal and motivated me with their thanks. And thanks to @SharkIndicators for their sponsoring.

I did not use SharkIndicators BloodHound for the reason that I am a price action trader and don't use indicators (as a signal). Like almost every newbie I spent a whole lot of time investigating different systems, methods and indicators and really don't want to go back this path.

I think BloodHound is an unique product and can be of great use because it enables one to connect different indicators in all kind of ways to one system which one can test and automate (and thereby passing the hard to overcome human emotions). It's an area I have not explored before and I don't know if it will bring me further from where I am now or whether it will slow me down in my development. For now I know (also thanks to my journal) where I need to improve and I am focusing on that and nothing else. Maybe in the future when the time is right (and I have more time) I will take a look at it because I am curious if I would be able to automate a couple of setups I had some success with in the past. But as said, for now is not the time for me.

So now comes the question what to do with the $500 storage credit?

What I would like to do, if possible and allowed by Mike, is to sell the $500 credit to someone who really can, and will, use it. Maybe there are more people interested? Then it will go to the highest bidder by end of July. The pay will go to Mike's Oasis Americas foundation to help those in need in these turbulent times.

At the end of the month Mike will inform the highest bidder and will take care of the further processing. I hope I don't break any rules here. If for whatever reason my proposal gets turned down then just let me know and I will be okay with it.

If Mike approves and you are interested in the SharkIndicators $500 store credit then please place your bid in this thread. Please only bid what you really are prepared to pay. Keep in mind you're helping those in need. Thank you.

Hi @Mich62,

I appreciate the gesture. So basically you want to donate your $500 store credit to charity, specifically Oasis Americas, which is the charity my wife and I own. We are currently working on feeding the most hungry here in Ecuador. You want to auction it off to highest bidder, with that money going to Oasis.

I will ask if @SharkIndicators is ok with this. Please understand, they may not be. But that is for them to decide. I picture it working as so:

- Establish the highest bidder and price
- Ask that person to pay Oasis Americas via our PayPal link (credit cards, tax deductible)
- That way I can confirm the payment, and Shark can transfer the store credit to the new owner

Just a note. I updated the results post thanks to @bobwest pointing out an oversight. I updated my code to eliminate moderators from being eligible, so it removed my own entry (previously ranked 8th so didn't effect outcome). This is why total journals dropped from 22 to 21 after the edit.

Hi guys,

I am cross-posting the below message. It was originally posted in this thread:

This Journal Challenge event and the Charity Drive are related, please read below.

All of us have been affected by COVID-19. But here in Ecuador, things are truly desperate. The number of homeless and/or hungry families on the street has skyrocketed in recent weeks.

The government is unable to provide any resources to assist these people. The government has stopped paying all salaries to nearly every government entity. There are no pensions being paid. There are no medical benefits being honored.

All typical commerce is almost entirely shutdown, in fact the country has been in complete lockdown where there is a curfew and very strict restrictions on when and who can leave their house.

There is no place for many people to find work, and some of them simply are not surviving and are falling through the cracks. The cracks, in fact, have become enormous.

We're going to help

For the month of June, futures io is running a Journal Challenge contest. What I want to do is tie in with that event, and donate ten meals for every new journal that is created/posted to on FIO during June. This will be donated by my wife and I, on behalf of the members of futures io. If you wish to help personally, please see below.

So at the end of June, we will calculate how many journals participated in the event, and then we'll purchase the food and distribute it to those that are most in need (on the streets).

My wife and I started a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organized called Oasis Americas last year. This is our charity specifically for helping those in need, both in North America and South America.

We will be accepting additional donations from anyone on futures io that wishes to donate towards this cause. All donations are tax deductible, and will go entirely towards the purchase of food for those in need, in this case to those here in Ecuador that we can safely reach and handout meals to.

We will follow-up in this thread to provide updates on the amount of food we've donated from the journal event, as well as additional donations received.

If you wish to donate, you can do so here using PayPal:

Thank you,
Mike

Following up on the Charity aspect of this Journal Challenge.

So there were 21 journals as part of the challenge, which means my wife and I committed to donating 210 meals (21 x 10) to the most in need. However, we decided to increase that to 1,000 meals -- so we purchased another 1,000 cans of tuna, which was made possible by your journals!

This is in addition to the huge amount of money and meals already raised in the main thread by you guys:

The entire breakdown is in that thread, please check it out. Let's keep the charitable part of this event in the charity thread.

Mike
