I've just finished creating an online course to help people get started with NinjaTrader. The course is free.

I've been a member here for a while, but I don't know if it's allowed to post links to your own vendor content (I do have another course for sale as well).

Is there a certain forum where this is allowed?

If not, I understand, just wanted to ask first since I can't find anything in the rules.

Thanks.

I would wait for a moderator to reply.
It is my understanding if you sell anything you must be classified as a vendor even if you are giving some things away.

Posting to the site that also has your vendor stuff on it would be a no no. I would suggest packaging it as a PDF and uploading to the downloads section of the FIO site. Then linking to that download file would not be an issue at all.

But the PDF would have to be first scrubbed of vendor info, correct? I think that is what you meant, but it could be interpreted differently.

Sorry, just don't want to see anyone banned.

Thanks, I would like some additional clarification on that for future reference, but it's also irrelevant for this course. It's a full fledged online course with video lectures and demos. PDF is not a fitting format.

Too bad there's no way to share this with the community.

You can share it, as long as their is no vendor identifying material. I've shared plenty here, and I am a vendor...

To clarify, futures.io does not have a policy against vendors nor about sharing material. There is a policy about anything that is potentially self-promotion by a vendor. The reason is simply that the furtures.io community is a potential rich resource for vendors to mine for profit, by steering members into their paid offerings.

There are lots of vendors here who are identified as such and who understand the rules. Since many of them are in fact very knowledgeable, they can and often do contribute positively, and FIO would be poorer without them.

But if you have a website where you offer any paid service, we cannot allow you to post a link to that site, even if you also have free services, and if the link itself is to a free service, because there is also paid material on the site that the link may lead members to. Sometimes this means that totally well-meaning people can't post links to their sites, which is unfortunate, but it has to be this way if the community is not going to be the target of non-well-meaning people.

The membership here is a juicy target for internet sales pitches, basically.

This doesn't mean that vendors are necessarily bad at all, and inquiring about the rules, as @Barz did, is exactly the right thing to do if you don't know.

Also, there is no problem in linking to a vendor site which contains paid material, if you are not connected to the vendor. Otherwise, vendor reviews and comments about vendors, pro or con, would not be possible. We definitely want these reviews, because they inform the community and encourage discussion.

I hope this had made the policy, and the reasons for it, more clear.

Bob.

I don't think this is fair to smaller vendors

EX-

jigsaw has a link straight to his site, now to say this exception is only to webinars seems to be even more backwards, due to the fact most webinars are used as promotions on Facebook and at the top of the form. If one person gets to post there website then everyone should, and just because mike posts a link doesn't mean everyone else shouldn't be able to.

I understand Jigsaw possibly sponsors this website a little bit but if that is the case then every vendor should have this chance.

I understand that this could allow negative behavior but 9/10 you guys are on top of banning and locking down posts.

If anything it could make the site better because there would be so many posts about possible products.
