Site sponsors have their own set of rules, which, among other things, limit what and where they are allowed to post. They are allowed to advertise, and they also make the site possible as an ongoing enterprise (elite membership fees don't do it .) Potential sponsors undergo selection and it is not open to anyone who asks. Most are turned down.
As to how many posts about possible products we would see, you have no idea how much spamming we delete every week. Vendors making claims about their products would flood the forum, and in fact they do. Most are just the get-rich-quick-with-my-stuff kind of nonsense that traders are and should be wary of. This forum needs to be a safe space -- this is one of its strengths. Otherwise it isn't going to exist as it is today.
Anyone who wants to recommend a product or service that they themselves are not selling can open a review thread or can make a post to an existing review thread. If you just want to mention something that a vendor offers that you have found valuable, without making a full review post, that's fine too. Just not if it's you that you are praising.
The number of vendor reviews is vast. Sometimes the discussions are very free-wheeling, and users' actual real-world experiences get discussed.
The best of all possible worlds would only have totally honest and trustworthy people in it who only offer good value to others. This is a different world, alas.
