Hi guys,
Continuing in the tradition of encouraging journals on FIO, I am announcing a new Journal Challenge for July 2019.
The rules are extremely simple:
a) The contest begins July 1 and ends July 31. All decisions made by futures io are final.
b) This thread that you are reading right now will act as the repository for all journals that are entered into the contest.
c) The author of a journal can enter his/her futures io journal into the contest by posting a link to his/her journal in this thread. Only the author of the journal can do this. Please post the link to the journal ONE TIME, AND ONE TIME ONLY in this thread.
d) Members of futures io will cast their votes for the best journals by using the "Thanks" button on the post that the journal author has made in this very thread. This is why it is very important the author of the journal make only one post, because only one post will be used to count the total number of "Thanks Received" in this thread, and that is how the winners will be decided. Members can vote for as many separate journals as they want by following the same procedure.
e) There will be three prizes awarded, based on the highest number of "Thanks Received" per the above. The prizes are as follows: 1st place: Lifetime NinjaTrader license valued @ $1099, 2nd place: 1-year NinjaTrader license valued @ $720, 3rd place: 1-year NinjaTrader license valued @ $720.
f) As we increase the number of these events, we find the need to keep it fair for everyone - so you are only eligible to win a prize in this event if you have not won any other prize within the prior 3 events on futures io. Feel free to participate in the process, but know prize eligibility will be a deciding factor in the final award process.
Thank you to NinjaTrader for sponsoring this event. You can ask questions about their products and services here, and get answers directly from Ray, the Founder of NinjaTrader:
It is my pleasure to welcome Raymond Deux (Founder of NinjaTrader) on Wednesday, May 3rd @ 4:30 PM Eastern US for an "Ask Me Anything" (AMA) event.
Ray always does an excellent job with answering questions from members, so be sure to …
My goal with these contests is to encourage the journaling process, as I firmly believe the more you participate in the journal process, the better trader you will become.
In addition, for Elite Members, NinjaTrader has a special offer -- receive a $100 discount off a new lifetime multi-broker license, using this special link:

I tried a trade on the micro Russell today. It was very small ( 5 lots) and for few ticks. I just wanted to see how it moves. It seems to have a good range and may try it again next week. The trade above was an upthrust set up.

What can be done with a Live Futures Account with only $590?
To prove to myself the effectiveness of my strategy and process using a live funded account I will be trading the new CME Micro ES (MES) futures product.
I want to prove that I can be successful with small initial investment and a very low cost of tools, the purchase of NinjaTrader 8 and a Futures.io Elite membership, one-time purchases and no other expensive tools or subscriptions. I will be trading only with tools that come with NinjaTrader 8 and that are available for free from Futures.io (some with some minor coding modifications that I personally made with the tools provided in NinjaTrader).

Hey guys,
Congratulations to all the participants of this challenge!
The winners are...
Uh oh, we have a tie for third place!
Congrats to @shortcreeker [Lifetime license], @kareem40 [1-year license], and @OldGerman [1-year license] as well as @NW Trader [1-year license] (both tied for 3rd place)!
So what do we do, with this tie breaker situation??
We email @NinjaTrader over the past weekend, and ask them if they could help us solve our little problem -- and they say yes of course: here is a 4th license to give away to the last winner!
Thank you @NinjaTrader for stepping up to contribute the additional prize, and congrats to the four winners!
I will be reaching out to the winners shortly via PM to arrange for the prizes to be delivered.
My thanks to Mike, NinjaTrader and especially those who clicked the Thanks button for me. Wow, I booked profits today AND won a years subscription to NT. Think maybe Ill pick up a lottery ticket this evening! :-)

Thank you, for the 3rd place, thank you, thank you, to all participants of this challange, to all those who voted for me and especially to @BigMike for the organization of the challange and the forum.
For three / four years I am registered in the forum, and only for about two years, I am actively involved with my two journals.
I have to say, participating actively helped a lot to implement my strategies and actions.
Thanks again to everyone.

First I would like to thank you for your generosity to me in the past. Although you do not know me personally you gave me Elite Status because I am Viet Nam War vet.
When we got back from that one everyone treated us pretty badly and a lot of companies would not employ us due to our involvement etc.
Anyway, your offer extending Elite Status to us vets was very generous and big deal to me. It was the first time I have ever been honored for my military service. I bring this up to let you know that I am not only thankful for your kindness but have been impressed with the kind of person that you are, your values, and what you hold dear.
Which brings me to the point of why I am contacting you.
I found out this evening that you have banned a friend of mine, Steve Theobald (sstheo), from FIO.
I think Mr. Theobalds posts and journals etc. add a lot of value for FIO users and will continue to do so for years to come.
My relationship with Mr. Theobald is also closer than others on FIO and in his Ohana trading room as I have a lot of personal knowledge and experience with him in other areas besides trading. Based on this knowledge I can vouch for Mr. Theobalds integrity and honesty.
I find this puzzling that he would be banned. From what I have witnessed on FIO you have previously always been kind and helpful to all. I hope you will reconsider and reinstate him on FIO so he can at least complete his micro trading journal. Please Big Mike . Please?
I know him well enough to know that whatever law you lay down he will abide by. He has no ill will toward FIO, even after he was banned; he is just sad. And as an aside I know for sure that you have at least two new subscribers from Ohana trading due to Mr. Theobalds promotion of FIO. And he promotes TopStep as well as a few other prop firms with advice on passing combines etc.
I have been following his journal on FIO and saw this morning that you and he were having some interaction concerning his Free Ohana Trading chat room, and only then realized that you thought there may be some conflict.
I have been sleuthing around FIO for almost 3 years now and have always seen people linking to all kinds of web sites and vendors. I recently purchased JigSaw software from Peter after finally being convinced that I need to take the leap after watching one of the many videos posted on FIO and FIO users commenting on JigSaw. And there are many others. Ohana trading chat room is Free and will be limited to @35 traders or so.
I am not a person that uses social media but I do refer to FIO when I have questions about trading software and vendors. It has been a great resource for me and as you know, to tens of thousands of others alike.
My most outstanding trading related experiences was right here on FIO over the last several months. I could name many individuals that I have followed including their journals etc. but my number 1 pick during that period has been Mr. Theobald.
In your post to him you seem to be questioning his motives for operating through PMs. It is my understanding is that it is because he wants to vet traders before giving us admission. I was vetted and barely qualified. If I had been rejected I am thankful that it would have been in private.
I am a member of the Ohana trading chat room and active there every trade day. There is no charge and no sponsor of any type. It is a completely free area where a small group of traders (about 25) right now post their trades and trading advice in real-time during various trade sessions throughout the world. I cant imagine that Ohana trading chat room could even handle 50 traders. It is already so busy with posts that you can hardly trade and keep up. On the other hand you have more than 100,000 subscribers.
Let me expand on the add value that Mr. Theobald brings to FIO.
He is a prolific writer.
His honesty and complete openness and frankness about his trading experiences; his loses and heartaches, his trials and prop firm experiences all laid out in great detail has inspired me more than any other single person in the trading realm. I could not find this level of information elsewhere on FIO.
If you let him continue his journals I cannot see how it will not add value to FIO.
From everything I have seen from him he just wants to help traders and offers constant help to me almost daily.
I am sure that he would promise to not say anymore about his chat room if reinstated. I would just like to see him at least finish his treads on FIO.
He came in 13th out of 1400 people on the CME challenge so he probably has something worthwhile to share. Good association for FIO.
His journal was winning him a lifetime Ninja Trader License (27 Thank Yous). Did you nix him on that too?
I hope you will work something out with him so he can finish his journal. I know it has already helped me have better trade goals and Im sure I cant be the only one following.
Please Big Mike .. Please?
Best regards always,
Mark Bondiett

Sorry, nothing to work out. As has already been discussed, he violated our terms. He also threatened me via email afterwards. I'm done with him. And it certainly doesn't belong here in this thread, it's inappropriate and unrelated.
Thanks to Big Mike, NinjaTrader and all of you who liked my journal. I received the LifeTime NinjaTrader License Key today. I have found that these public journals really help my performance by being publicly accountable for the trades I take. I am thankful to Big Mike for hosting and organizing these events and for this Super Great Incredible futures.io forum where I have learned soo much about trading and customizing indicators for NinjaTrader. This forum is one of my most valuable resources in my trading journey.
Thank You All!!!!!

Yesterday I was contacted by the nice folks from NinjaTrader to arrange getting me set up with the 1-Year Lease that I won by tying for third in the July 2019 FIO Journal Challenge. This comes at an opportune time for me as I had decided to stick with my current platform despite higher commissions and iffy customer service until such time as I decided whether I could make a go of trading futures or not. After 8 weeks back on Live trading I have reached that point and so now it's time to make a few constructive changes.
Again, my thanks to Big Mike, NinjaTrader and especially to those folks who clicked the Thanks button on my journal in July.
Happy trading!
