futures io is the largest futures trading community on the planet, with over 100,000 members. Some of the primary differences between futures io and other trading sites revolve around the standards of our community. Those standards include a code of conduct for our members, as well as extremely high standards that govern which partners we do business with, and which products or services we recommend to our members.

At futures io, our focus is on quality education. No hype, gimmicks, or secret sauce. The truth is: trading is hard. To succeed, you need to surround yourself with the right support system, educational content, and trading mentors Ė all of which you can find on futures io, utilizing our social trading environment.

With futures io, you can find honest trading reviews on brokers, trading rooms, indicator packages, trading strategies, and much more. Our trading review process is highly moderated to ensure that only genuine users are allowed, so you donít need to worry about fake reviews.

We are fundamentally different than most other trading sites:
  • We are here to help. Just let us know what you need.
  • We work extremely hard to keep things positive in our community.
  • We do not tolerate rude behavior, trolling, or vendors advertising in posts.
  • We firmly believe in and encourage sharing. The holy grail is within you, we can help you find it.
  • We expect our members to participate and become a part of the community. Help yourself by helping others.

You'll need to register in order to view the content of the threads and start contributing to our community.  It's free and simple.

What to do to be eligible to win the prizes?

To be eligible to win some of the over $18,000 in prizes, we ask that you participate in this thread by sharing your story.

Specifically, we are asking for you to make a post sharing your experience with our community, futures io. Tell us when you joined, why you joined, what you found -- tell us if you've been helped, tell us if it's improved your trading experience.

Share with us what you like or dislike about the community the most -- tell us what keeps you coming back, tell us what separates futures io from other communities.

Within this post, you can also feel free to tell us about yourself, about your own trading, about your journey -- what has worked, what hasn't, what you've learned and what you still are trying to master. Share with us what makes you feel like a member of an extended family here on futures io.

In a few days, I will be posting the schedule of events, and a full list of all the prizes (over $18,000 this year!). That information will be shared here in this thread. We'll also be posting on social media, so it would be smart for you to click the buttons on the top left of our site and follow us on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter!

Last, I want to mention that we each owe a great thanks to all of the members here within the community that make it what it is today. I had a vision 10 years ago that we could accomplish something great, but since then it has grown larger than I could have imagined (back then, it was simply "Big Mike Trading" -- remember guys??) and I am so proud of how it has turned out and what our community stands for.

When you make a post in this thread sharing your experience, please note that you are giving your permission for futures io to use your post, in part or in full, for future marketing material -- and we may or may not mention your community member name in doing so. See the next paragraph for why...

We welcome all feedback, positive or otherwise, and we love to hear members sharing their stories and their trading journeys. We want to share these stories with others, because we know that most have gone down similar paths -- and it's a bumpy road. It's always of great comfort to know you are not alone, and to find help and advice from those that have gone before you. Our entire community is built upon participation, and we often hear from members who are reluctant to share -- and we always encourage them to take the leap, make the post, ask for help, and start participating. Their trading will thank them!

Thank you to everyone!

Mike

I found FIO back in 2016 as I was spending more time trading the index futures and had just completed Market Profile training with Dalton. I really like the sense of community that we had during the two intensives and wanted to keep that going to some extent in the sense of being with like minded people and traders.

I moved on to another training session and that took the place of the community I was looking for, but it was a short duration training (1 week or so) and I really did enjoy being with other traders. Trading can be very solitary if you're a discretionary trader, trading your own funds. The sense of community that I was seeking was lacking.

I joined the "other" board that deals with trading, but didn't really care for the vibe there, to much trolling and people just not being nice.

Finding FIO was nothing short of a breath of fresh air! Cool people that wanted to help each other, minimal if any trolling and a REAL sense of community.

A board owner that REALLY seemed to care and is genuinely one of the nicest online personas that I've ever come across. I soon thereafter paid for the Elite Membership if for no other reason than to support the costs associated with running a forum like this. The discounts were a GREAT deal as well and have paid back the very reasonable amount I paid toward the Elite Circle / Membership many times over.

I used this very board for extensive research on moving to Sierra Charts, asked a bunch of ?'s to other members (open and in private PM) on SC and eventually made the move to SC as my primary charting platform, which at the time was definitely the right thing to do, but would also prove to be a very good move in the near future.

I read through Tiger Trader's Spoo-naylsis, joined the discussion and observed @Inletcap being the fastest screen-cap-post-screeny gun west of the Atlantic ocean! Ed moved on due to work and the thread somewhat fizzled out, but the experience was there.

Michael Moore's CL thread was really popular for a while and I found myself again posting along like minded traders.

As for the helping and sharing that goes on, many members shared their Sierra Charts chartbooks with me and I have in turn shared mine in the files section. We're all in this industry together and using the same data and info, why not share ideas and the like?

And, finally, I have to say that one crowning achievement has been PM'g @Big Mike to rename the "Bitcoin Trading" sub-forum to the "Cryptocurrency Trading" sub-forum that we have today here at FIO. Thanks, Mike, not only for having a great place for all of us to come together, but for being a really nice guy!

My Story:

When I turned 14 (late 2013) I opened my Roth IRA and, with my father's supervision, began investing. I bought a Vanguard Index Fund and a couple of tech stocks. My father explained the power of compound interest and I took these lessons to heart.

As a young teenager I had no intentions of trading for a living; I wanted to be a rock star (with a sizable IRA built from decades of passive investing. Senior year of high school I realize the whole rock star dream doesn't look very likely. I decide to go to college for music. That lasts one semester and I have another realization: college is definitely not the right environment for me to learn any skill.

I moved back home and got a job waiting tables. While browsing YouTube one day, I stumbled upon one of the many bullshit videos detailing the "Lifestyle of a Daytrader." I was sold.

I followed this particular YouTuber's free content for a couple months and tried my hand at daytrading, leveraging excessive positions with long options. After one particularly frustrating loss, I decided to just purchase his course because it will solve all my problems right? You can probably guess what happened next.

Fast forward a few months and I am a very discouraged trader, spending hours per day testing combinations of indicators in hopes of finding the Holy Grail. I eventually discovered Renko and Range bars and became obsessed with these charts that looked so beautiful in hindsight. The first time I saw a Renko chart I thought for sure I had found the Holy Grail. I then watched them in real-time and realized how many bars print too fast to elicit a human reaction. My elation quickly reverted back to discouragement.

January 2019, I stumble on a thread here on futures.io. https://futures.io/traders-hideout/45117-good-resources-price-action.html One comment on this thread contains links to Damian Castilla's YouTube channel. I watched some of his videos and became hooked on his objective read of the market without the use of any indicators.

After consuming all of his material I begin demo trading. Broke even consistently and went live daytrading the SPY ETF. (micro's were not out yet.) I break even in April and May and decide to step it up from shares of the ETF to 1 contract of the futures. I create a journal here on May 20th and update it diligently. My trading continues to evolve and change thanks to all of the wonderful people that contribute to my journal. Logging and reviewing my trades daily teaches me a lot about my psychology. I end June with a small profit, July with a small loss. Going into August I am a scratch trader approximately one year into my daytrading journey.

I have put in a lot of work over the past year and know there is still a mountain of work ahead. I feel extremely grateful for everyone who has helped me on this crazy journey. My father, the unnamed YouTube Guru, Damian Castilla, and everyone who contributes their insights here on futures.io.

A huge thank you to @Big Mike for building and maintaining this amazing community. Journaling has been immensely helpful to me. Congratulations on the anniversary!
