I was out of the office all day. When I came back, I had over 1000 emails.
Apparently there was a big storm in Chicago, and the generator at the datacenter failed. That is never supposed to happen. The datacenter lost power and with it, our server. That corrupted a bunch of mysql database stuff.
I've been working the last hour to try to get everything back. I'm still having a problem with a few things, but am about to turn the forum back on.
Thx Bacon. It's a good thing the datacenter is 3,000 miles away, because I about came unglued when I got home and saw all the problems. Especially after all the research I did in choosing this data center.
Regarding the power outage, the reason the DC lost power was a that there was a bad heat block sensor on the generator. They ran on generator for 2 minutes until the Automatic Transfer Switch found the fault from the bad sensor. The sensor thought the generator was overheating and shut down. Immediately after diagnosing this, the ATS and UPS were bypassed and the generator was restarted. The generator repair company, Lienheart and EDS, were on site until 2am confirming everything is operational.
The power systems have been load tested regularly and they have scheduled additional tests in the near future.
well - once there was a company worked in the oil-business.
it was a really good old & seríous company.
for cousre they installed all needed security+ backup utilitys they should have too -
no one needs or likes to have a desaster with costumers or with the public + medias of course .....
but one day suddenly ....
