My guess is that a lot of those "zombie" signs can just be attributed to mistakes. From times hanging around in chat rooms I recall that people posted things by mistake over and over again, simply because they chose the wrong window etc. It was not even uncommon to see login names or passwords every once in a while.

This actually happens, just with retail traders you don't hear about it in the news. But you can read about professional fat fingers every once in while.

Makes me wonder how many zombie orders are entered into the market on a daily
basis . They might mistake a Basic Entry window for a calculator.
