Weeellll... you could just not go there.

(And sure, it does tend to pull you in. Did me today, once again.)

Bob.

I'd prefer an option to switch the thread off until this whole thing dies down and then have the ability to check for useful stuff when it's updated.

Otherwise it pulls you in but it's just a waste of time.

Plus, there are sometimes threads dedicated to stuff that's just of no interest to you. For example, a thread about Asian products or indexes when you don't trade them, or about a European product that you don't follow.

This way you would have the ability to switch those individual threads off.

Makes for a faster, cleaner scan of what's new and relevant to your interests.

I know this is controversial, but the thread starter should have deletion power. The thread starter knows what is relevant to the thread, and there are many starters so administration burden is lessened. I do not see any harm in deletion power. Keeping threads on point will sharpen the discussion and make for more enjoyable reading. It would also give Futures.io an advantage over other forums which do not allow it. It introduces a modicum of authorship which may give the forum threads a distinct flavor. If a thread gets somehow out of control, the administration can reverse and rescind powers as necessary.

Maybe in a journal, but in a public thread I would vote no.

I may be wrong but I think this was implemented at some point.

I see issues with this approach. I won't delve into those now as i'm on a portable device but personally I believe the current system which allows the thread owner to block an individual from commenting further by putting them on the ignore list to be effective.

Hi guys,

Since the new framework is taking longer than anticipated, I decided to roll out our new color scheme to our current site instead of waiting for the launch of the new one.

Right now we are testing the new theme. If you would like to be part of the testing, and report bugs, please send me a PM so I can give you the details.

The changes from the user perspective are minimal, but the backend changes were extensive, so we need beta testers that use the site to help us find issues.

Regarding the new theme - all beta testers, please report any outstanding issues other than the Wiki linked-keywords. I know that these are being stylized incorrectly, and am working to resolve.

I believe all other issues have been addressed, so if you still see something broken please report it immediately as I intend to roll out the new theme to all users as soon as the wiki stylized problem is resolved.

It's been a while since I provided an update, and just wanted to let everyone know that work continues nearly every single day on the new framework.

We've been hard at work on re-creating and converting the Downloads correctly, as well as implementing our new Webinar database system.

Next up, we are implementing the wiki / articles system in the new framework.

I hope to be able to offer a new public beta soon.

The new framework developer is doing a clean conversion this weekend using up-to-date source data (live site), so I hope to have a new public beta in a couple days. The purpose will be testing core functionality to see what is broken and missing, visually everything is still default (not customized or branded) as that will come later.

Will post here when ready, as I will need your help to test.

Yes, we had to spend a lot of resources updating all our new plugins for 4.2 compatibility... part of the process since its taking so long.

What I really need now is a skinner/theme guy to create the skin from scratch, I think that even beta testing without the theme is going to give people the wrong idea --- since its just out of the box appearance right now. We've made so many under the hood changes and improvements, I really want to show them off with a better theme.
