@Big Mike, I know you're on vacation now, and this may not be the best place to put this issue anyway, but I have noticed the following issue happening more and more lately:

1. Click the Thanks button for a post
2. The edit window pops up, with the post I wanted to Thank showing as a quote, as if I had clicked the Qoute button
3. Close that, and it appears that I did not Thank the post
4. Reload the page with the browser reload button, and my Thanks now shows. Additional clicking of Thanks is not required.

Not all the time, but it's happening more and more. Apparently sort of randomly.

I half-way remember something like this coming up a good while ago. If my memory is right, I think you did something like rebuilding the indexes. (That doesn't make much sense to me, but I'm writing it down because it may be right -- or I may just not remember correctly. But I'm sure that this has happened before, and then got fixed by something you did.)

This is not a horrible issue, but I am seeing it several times a day now.

Hope your vacation is going well.

Bob.

Hi Bob - Personally I've never experienced this type of issue myself.

Are you sure it's not something to do with your browser or something, maybe clearing temp files etc.? Have you tried with a different browser to see if it does the same?

Happy to move this to the Tech Support thread if it helps.

Just reporting it. It has happened in the past, and not to everyone.

I think Mike will see it here, that's OK.

This Thanks button issue may also be the issue mentioned by @ratfink a month or two ago:

As an aside the 'Thanks' button is not working for me on several random posts again, yours here and several in other journals too, seems to have become a minor FIO feature like the old missing images bug, clearing cookies makes no difference.

It was not happening for me when he made this post, but has started up since.

FYI.

And I should have said thanks for the suggestions, so I'll say it now. I would normally think it is my local issue, as you suggest, and it may in fact be that.... but I know it has come up before and was resolved at the server end, although I can't remember how right now.

So we'll see what can be done. I wonder if anyone else reading this has had it happen?

Bob.

I've had simaler issues but hitting thanks didn't open a window it just doesn't display the thanks until page is refreshed and when I hit edit, on occasion the editor will open but as soon as I click in the editor box it will close out- then when I click edit again the go advanced window opens. This behavior is rather new and happens randomly.

I have had the exact same issue many times.

@Big Mike

I've noticed that occasionally a post in a thread will "flicker" or "flash" at regular intervals.

When you load the thread for the first time the post in question is fine. After a few seconds, the flickering starts.

This seems to also affect the permalink, which turns to "0".

I have attached a video that shows the behavior.

I think it happens when someone posts to the thread while you are reading it.

This is a known issue, but I'll have to look up the exact cause. It's been covered somewhere or another. I remember part of it, but I want to double-check. I'll post it tomorrow or so, unless someone else does first.

The new version won't have it, in any case, because it will be on a different vendor's software.

Bob.
