Why do you need to log out so often?

Like signing onto any website, it is a good security practice to log off after use. It is a matter of convenience to easily find the Log Off button.

Even though I asked to Mike, let me express here that I would like to have the possibility to have the timestamp of the recent posts in the format "June 19th, 2014, 09:13 PM" instead of "5 Hours Ago" (more precission and better idea of "when" IMO).

Thank you

This will be addressed on the new 5.0 rollout, not before.

I would like to suggest (and comment) some things about the "Thanks System", most of all thinking in the new improvements (futures.io (formerly BMT) 5, etc).

First of all I have to say that this is (always IMO) a very good paralell system to get feedback from the Community (very important) without overdoing the whole messaging system (that's why I said paralell, very important also).

There are some ideas that come to me in order to perhaps improve it.

Without any special order (suggestions and comments):

* The actual interface doesn't makes possible to get results statistics oriented (as I know). What for?. For example because if we could get a list of our thanked posts ordered by number of thanks, probably we could get unexpected findings; for example knowing some contribution that we never thought it was so well received. And many many other search results findings (as other example; may be we didn't know that some people are really our fans!).

To get this results, perhaps not so necessary database and interface works if offering just the data in order to be treated by our own (Access, Excel, etc). And not only over just us, over all the Community (always open to Mike's judgment).

* It's really important the agility of the system (as currently is), without display refreshes to see reflected our actions (our thanks).

* It's also important (as currently is) the position of the button/s (a very strategic position).

* Are not there things we do not like?. Why not a "No, thanks" button?.

* May be sometimes, just sometimes so it should be optional and without disturbing the usual agility, we would like to leave a comment to our "Thanks" / "No, thanks" action.

Thank you.

I am not overly concerned with the actual "conversion" (database). I am more concerned with all the customization needed to retain a lot of futures.io (formerly BMT) features. And then I also am not crazy about the out of box experience, and will need to do a lot of heavy modification to a) make it something I like, and b) make it similar to the current futures.io (formerly BMT) style.

It will be an enormous project involving who knows how many developers and graphics design contractors, but I think in the end it will take us where we need to be for the next 5 years or more.

Please post follow-ups in the futures.io (formerly BMT) 5.0 thread.

Mike

i know you have had problems with devs and contractors, have you looked into anyone from the IPB community? i feel like there might be more luck there.

I tried a few months back. I need to start the process over once I have 4.0 installed. I will need some really good developers, my gut feeling is this is about 10-20k of work and will take a small army.

Since futures.io (formerly BMT) 5.0 is going to be a major rollout, I'm considering other changes as well.

Let me be frank. Should the name of the site be changed?

Is "Big Mike Trading" an appropriate name that represents the community today? When I started this site over 5 years ago, I never imagined it would be the largest/most active futures community on the planet.

What will the next 5 years look like? Is the current name the best way to proceed?

Does the current name negatively impact or act as a hindrance? Does it act positively or as encouragement?

Would changing the name be completely disruptive?

I'd like to hear from as many people as possible on this, and I hope you take the time to think through all the angles and let me know your thoughts. Some that come to mind are:

- Name recognition
- Community representation
- Community values
- Marketing, traffic, SEO

I bring up the question of the name now simply because with all the changes that will come as part of the futures.io (formerly BMT) 5.0 initiative, it would be a good time if a change is to be made.

@Big Mike I kind of like the hometown feel of the name. But if I was searching web on saw it in search results I might not click on it because of the name. That being said is a toss up as far as my opinion goes. From an SEO perspective it is challenging to change a name. I would really examine the SEO part of the equation when making that decision.

"The day I became a winning trader was the day it became boring. Daily losses no longer bother me and daily wins no longer excited me. Took years of pain and busting a few accounts before finally got my mind right. I survived the darkness within and now just chillax and let my black box do the work."
