Mike

Please leave it at 24 hours. I often notice mistakes in my posts several times after thinking that I had found all the typo's or something I left out. I appreciate the 24 hours.

After all, it's what you learn AFTER you know it all, that counts!

Actually I would like that too, 24 hours minimum.

I think the 24 hours is pretty good. Sometimes it takes me a long time to realize I made a mistake, especially if I'm posting late at night, finish the post, go to bed, and don't look at it again or think about it until 8-10 hours later, if not more.

drag&drop of attachments such as charts into ones posts would be great.

Oh and please leave it at 24hours, if I use vvScreenshot I may not look into the thread until after the session, but sometimes the upload is not working ie chart missing & stuff..

im obv just probing here, but how are you feeling about the current state of IPB and its release which is right around the corner? i know you are busy with life where you are and upcoming vacations, im just looking for an update not really a ETA.

dont believe anything you hear and only half of what you see

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Honestly, not good. I am disappointed. It just means a great deal more custom work to get it where I want it. I won't roll out a bad product.

I might wait for a dot release before making the switch on futures.io (formerly BMT), although I do still fully intend to deploy the release to a beta testing environment once I can.

Now that IPB 4.0 is released, my plan is to use one of the extra servers I have in Chicago and install IPB 4 on it after I return from vacation in late June.

That stage will primarily focus on how the import went from the point of view of just posts/thread/user tables.

I am trying to move the timetable up slightly. Thursday two 1TB Samsung 850 Pro's will be installed on one of futures.io (formerly BMT)'s servers in Chicago (Xeon E3-1275 v2, 32GB), as the current 2x256GB config is at capacity. I'll do a clean install from there.

This means I should be able to see how the initial pass at conversion to IPB 4.0 goes prior to me leaving on vacation.

It's the same CPU hardware as the current production futures.io (formerly BMT) server, but given that IPB 4.0 is supposed to be far better optimized for performance than the current site, I didn't see a need to upgrade the hardware further.

The hardware (clean install) is ready to go on "atlantis" (server name). Working on configuring all the backend software this weekend (nginx, mariadb, php, etc etc etc).

Have spent a lot of time this week getting the underlying components ready. Have purchased the IPB licenses as of today, and this weekend I hope to finally do the first database migration and see where we stand in regards to the most basic import results (thread/post/user content).

I've also been giving more thought to the "skin" and visual appearance. Obviously, futures.io (formerly BMT) itself needs an overhaul/major facelift. Originally I said that the new migration would adopt a similar skin to the current skin so that there would not be a drastic change in appearance overnight.

However, the more I think about this and consider its feasibility from a technical standpoint, the more it seems unlikely.

Instead, I think it likely will be best to start a 'clean slate' visual approach on the new site, for now simply called futures.io (formerly BMT) 5.0 beta. In order to get users gradually accustomed to the change, I think the best approach is to simply make it available to them for preview in the coming months.

So the plan is to initially have access to the beta site limited to just myself, then open it to all Market Wizards, then open it to all Elite Members. This process will take months, during which time there will be a lot of development and changes on a regular basis. But by the time I am ready to open it to all Elite Members, I hope to have a fairly polished site and the majority of the user base can then start to become accustomed to the new interface.

Users won't be able to select which site they want to participate on, unfortunately. The beta site will basically be "read-only" for all current futures.io (formerly BMT) content, so you can see how existing posts/threads work. New content will be temporary content only and will be deleted once the beta site is gone. Permanent content will have to be created on the current futures.io (formerly BMT) site.

That said, while new content must be created on the current site until the beta site is switched "on", users will be able to read/search/view content on the beta site, allowing them to get used to the interface.

Comments?
