Thanks Bob.

I try to not let the crazy people get to me. And I try to let the site speak for itself.

But it is hard to stand by and do nothing when someone is attacking your friends, family, and your creation.

It was suggested in another thread, by @arnie I believe, to combat the crazies with more transparency. So here we are.

Hey Big Mike, I think you really don't need to create these threads, maybe you can add how the forum operates (like you did in this thread) to the terms and conditions of using the forum, so when people want to sign up either agree or disagree. Simple as that.

IMHO, it's really obvious the goal of futures.io (formerly BMT).

Sometimes the nutjobs are more vocal. That's the internet....

But traders depend on knowledge, a different thing entirely.

I agree with this. But there are a lot of people who maybe are brand new to futures.io (formerly BMT), or learn about futures.io (formerly BMT) from the nutjobs. So hopefully a thread like this will be helpful to them while they are making their own decision.

(3) Over these years, I have not seen a resource for traders as good as futures.io (formerly BMT). (You have not paid me for this, nor could you have, and I am not totally inexperienced, either.) This is real.

100% IN AGREEMENT

THANK YOU

In the spirit of transparency there is always something I've wondered about futures.io (formerly BMT)...

Mike, do you read private messages between two other members? If so, what guidelines do you have in place when you think it's OK to read other people's private messages and when they should remain just that: private?

Totally private. The exception would be if a user uses the 'Report' feature, which sends the private message to the moderators for review (spam, or other problems).

Continuing the transparency, I am going to try to remember going forward that if a user is banned I will update their user profile to list the ban reason in their public profile so it is viewable by members.

Please understand that first of all, 99% of banned users are "bots" or "spam bots" or low-wage people that are paid to promote a product or campaign that are spamming the forum to promote their product, so I don't intend to update the profiles of these users as it would be too time consuming.

The remaining people are a very small number that get banned for violating forum policy. The only real issue I see here is that the field length for the user title is quite short, it is hard to sometimes squeeze in all the reasons someone is banned into such a tiny space, but I will try and see if I can make it work.

Today, Brian Padgett of Puretick (Senior VP) joined the forum.

He agreed to our disclaimer and terms and conditions, and clearly stated he was not a vendor nor affiliated with a vendor.

Then he proceeded to post in the Vendor Review section about Puretick:

You can find some of his posts on page 4 going forward.

I then asked him to clarify his relationship with Puretick, at which point he said he was "just a trader in the room". This is not accurate, since I have proof he is Brian Padgett of Puretick, which is the Senior VP there.

After I banned him, he then proceeded to send me six or so emails, saying how nexusfi.com (formerly BMT) is a fraud, that it's no wonder I am moving to Ecuador (he implies I am running away from authorities), calls nexusfi.com (formerly BMT) a scam, etc. He goes on to say he hopes to meet me one day so he can watch my face as my ego crumbles into the abyss from the damage he is about to cause.

He then proceeded to create this rip off report:

Ripoff Report | Big Mikes Trading Forum Complaint Review Princeton , Texas: 1092663

Then he later published something to his LinkedIn profile. I cannot see it, as I am not a member of any of those sites. His profile is here:

Brian Padgett | LinkedIn

I was made aware of the defamatory post he made by a friend who manages a large LinkedIn traders group who sent me an email.

I'm considering joining as member having actively participated in the forum for the last few weeks. Who does the banning on the forum BigMike, is it yourself or the moderators, or a combination of both?

I consider myself a polite/civil person and will follow the rules of the forum but I want to be able to participate in a open and civil debate if I join, and push along my development of course! Any comments on the main reasons why people are banned here?
