I've seen issues with question marks appearing where I would expect an apostrophe, in a few posts lately.

So, as a test: this text has apostrophe's in it.

Let's see what it prints as.

Edit: well that went in OK, so the question mark issue is from something else besides the native post editor. Perhaps it's from people writing a post in a different editor/word-processor, and pasting in here. Not sure.

I'll leave this post up as a reminder that the issue is happening, but the cause in not known.

Second edit: it looks like the same thing as Mike posted about in the post just before this one. Instead of the smart quotes in Word (that curl one way for the beginning quote and the other for the ending), maybe it's the smart apostrophe's (single quotes instead of doubles.)

Test: copy/pasted sample of a smart apostrophe from Word: this is Word?s version of apostrophe?s.

Yep, that's it.

Bob.

It's an issue with UTF-8 encoding. It's a real mess to fix. Happened on the migration.

Tonight I had the unpleasant duty to ban a number of members that were participating in stealing/pirating our Elite content. We have various ways of tracking it, and this time I couldn't look the other way.

I want to remind everyone that when you sign up for Elite, you agree to not share that content with anyone outside of futuresio that is not an Elite Member.

If you were Elite and have been permanently banned, no - you will not receive any refund, as you violated our rules you agreed to (not to mention the law).

Everyone has the ability to appeal -- if you wish to do so, click "Contact Us" link from the bottom of the page, then select appeal ban. We have evidence of everyone that we banned, but it's up to you if you still wish to appeal.

Mike

I was asked by @bobwest to make this post - for any page I access on FIO, I get a pop up from the website asking to sign in to access bmcharts.com. I have no idea what that is about. This happens ONLY on FIO so it is not my browser or computer.

Sorry for the trouble.

bmcharts.com is one of mine. This happened due to a misconfiguration of a server this afternoon for a few minutes, causing a misrouting of a request.

Closing your browser completely and reopening will probably fix. If not, clearing cache data will.

Is anyone else experiencing this? I want to make certain it's resolved.

Windows tip: Using CTRL+F5 will refresh the browser page and clear cache without having to close out the browser tabs. This would have worked for @Anagami situation.

This is almost always the case, yes -- but in this case the issue is a cached 301/302 redirect which often times is only re-checked on a new browser session.

But for sure, try Ctrl-F5 first

Bob.

I made a change that hopefully corrects this. Can you let me know if you still see the problem.

Hi Mike, I received a report from a user about some screencast links in Dan's thread not showing their images. None of the images show in FIO, but when I copy/paste the screencast link to Chrome's Search bar, the image is displayed fine. Here's an example:
