@snax, try it now and let me know. I believe I fixed it, it was an encoding issue.

Mike

It works now, didn't even have to re-save, the existing bookmark shows the content. Thanks @Big Mike!!

Yeah encoding multibyte strings is hell on vBulletin 3.8, which was not designed as UTF-8. That is why the chatbox gives me so much trouble. I am working on a brand new framework to replace the chatbox, which was written 10 years ago by someone else...

It must be something specific to that post. Could you please share the exact URL?

Mike

For the record, it was Microsoft Quotes that broke it. Properly encoding that back out to JSON now.

Microsoft Quotes are a nightmare with vBulletin 3.8, we get them all the time with webinar descriptions and things, and they break things if not handled right. It's fine in page text, but not in other areas of forum.

Microsoft just had to go and use their own quotes instead of "regular" ones

Alright guys! Ctrl-Down now works, too.

Arrow keys:

Left = Previous page
Right = Next page

Ctrl-Up = Previous post
Ctrl-Down = Next post

Thoughts?

Sorry, post reply button was accidentally broken for a few minutes. Fixed.

OK guys, the keyboard map and option is implemented:

usercp-edit-options

bottom-thread-keyboard-shortcuts

By default, it's on. You can edit in UserCP -> Edit options.

Normally I don't pay much attention to keyboard shortcuts (except the very basic Windows ctl-C, etc.), because they vary between programs and are hard to remember anyway, and there's always the mouse. I like these though.

This is a big usability change. I didn't think it would be a big deal, but it makes scrolling through a thread way easier and faster.

Yeah, seriously it's like a whole new level.

I also added a scroll speed user selectable option in UserCP -> Edit options:

scroll-speed

If you select fast, the up/down arrow combo will move between posts instantly without any delay. Some may prefer it. Default is normal.

I noticed that recently when I click through a link on the main page from the new posts section on the right, it's not always taking me to that post but sometimes to top of the very last page of the thread (I have the order newest posts on page 1).

I almost replied to a post from May 2019 just now, because of that - especially since it's top of page, where the new post would appear, so I didnt notice it right away.

Have the issue with clicking through these two links, right now (both on android via ecosia browser and on google chrome PC):

Edit: when I click them from this post, it works as intended and jumps to the linked post correctly.
