Correct, but I don't think it's a big issue. Plus, I think it's more manageable for everyone to download large files into chunks as opposed sizes nearing 1 Gigabyte.

I didn't. My suggestion applied to chunks. But don't worry about this. I have started uploading these overnight and it's not as impactful. Creating something ad-hoc would probably would be more hassle than it's worth. Thanks for the offer though.

OK, personally my vote is single file vs multi. We allow files up-to 2GB in sizes in downloads area and per-file attachment in posts.

Back on FIO after a few weeks again and loading threads from the NEW buttons in a New Posts search is much slower than it used to be, typically 3-4 secs delay before each thread loads, previously non noticeable. The New Posts search itself is instant and I have instant page loads from all other sites I use, just seems to be a current FIO issue. Any takers?

[I also find the non-appearance of username after Thanks given a little disconcerting although I note that is a known issue.]

The speed impact is a known issue. Once the app layer & db layer are re-united in same datacenter, it will go back to normal. It's been my highest priority for the last two days.

My thinking: in terms of downloading large files, the risk that something can go wrong during the download has a direct correlation to size, generally speaking.

For example I've had occasional large file upload issues which meant I had to repeat the process the next day or so.

Out of the FIO users' population, I have no idea how many have high-speed internet Vs. how many don't but, for those who don't, if they started a 2 GB download that takes, say 40-60 mins to complete, their risk that something goes wrong is 3x higher than it would be if the file were split into 3 chunks.

I'm not talking about FIO's ability to serve that, of course, but with Internet you might find occasional bottlenecks, especially if you're in a remote part of the globe.

Besides, I used the split method given I saw other ES-related downloads were using the same approach.

Having said that, my ISP just told me I can get a high-speed connection trial for 6 months, so I might give that a go and see how it compares.

Even here in Ecuador, I have dual fiber from different providers. Primary is 150 Mb up/down, dedicated non-shared, not too bad for Ecuador.

80% with migration. Calling it a night, and tomorrow is super busy 'life' day outside of work. But I have the site working in test mode just for my account, routing through the new server, to see what is broken and fix it as needed.

I'm not sure I can flip the switch tomorrow but if not tomorrow, soon.

Known issue: When you create post #11 on a page (as I just did, resulting in new page of thread) the redirect doesn't properly take you to the new page on post creation. Have to manually go to new page.

This is another query isolation issue I will add to the list.

Another couple of issues, in case you don't have this one in the list:

1 I have just made a post in this thread but I can't get to it, the index is "stuck" at page 196 and clicking on page 197 just brings me back to 196.

2 I tried to upload an image to illustrate, but that doesn't seem to work either.

EDIT: to get to this post I had to change how many posts I want to see per page. I see the attachments were uploaded after all, probably this is what @snax had already reported.

Thanks... It works when I changed the option to 5 posts per page, but does not work for 'default' option of 10, or other option of 20, or of 30 posts per page.

For me, I know it worked on 40 posts per page and I didn't try the others. It must be thread specific.....

I'll look in a few minutes.

The view count is not updated immediately, I can't recall but it's 30 minutes or an hour.

The issue on not being able to go to the next page when your post results in a new page created should automatically correct in less than 30 seconds, as it's a cache issue.

Will all be fixed today assuming I can finalize the last few things in the migration.

Changing from 10 to something else will break many other things. I'll look into removing that at some point.
