Welcome to futures io.

Welcome, Guest!

This forum was established to help traders (especially futures traders) by openly sharing indicators, strategies, methods, trading journals and discussing the psychology of trading.

We are fundamentally different than most other trading forums:
  • We work extremely hard to keep things positive on our forums.
  • We do not tolerate rude behavior, trolling, or vendor advertising in posts.
  • We firmly believe in openness and encourage sharing. The holy grail is within you, it is not something tangible you can download.
  • We expect our members to participate and become a part of the community. Help yourself by helping others.

You'll need to register in order to view the content of the threads and start contributing to our community. It's free and simple, and we will never resell your private information.

-- Big Mike

No clue what a DDoS attack is but sounds nasty! Glad you got it sorted out... If you find the culprit and hes near me let me know- I'll pay him a little visit

Imagine the ES pit back in the 1980s. Say you're a pit trader/computer server for this metaphor. On a normal trade day, you'll be able to clearly hear all of the people communicating with you. Bids and offers (and requests to access this forum or that page) are easy for you to deal with. Now imagine being in the pit during the crash in the 80s. Everything is chaotic; you know that people are buying and selling because you hear the noise, but you can't talk to the guy five feet away from you because everybody is screaming in your ear. When the computer server gets a couple of morons "shouting" at it from their computers, it can't hear the rest of us who actually want to use the site.

This isn't a perfect example but a DDoS attack basically bombards the server with so many requests that it cannot function properly.

I would love to auto mitigate in the future, but this was somewhat complicated to detect. Maybe on the new server and new framework.

There are services such as CloudFlare that offer DDoS protection.

Doesn't work with our kind of configuration, I've looked into before. Not sure it would have prevented this particular kind of attack either way.

1) Stop changing things. No new indicators, charts, or methods. Be consistent with what is in front of you first.
2) Start a journal and post to it daily with the trades you made to show your strengths and weaknesses.
3) Set goals for yourself to reach daily. Make them about how you trade, not how much money you make.
4) Accept responsibility for your actions. Stop looking elsewhere to explain away poor performance.

Wow a DDoS attack ?
Is it 1996 ?

Are "they" probing for weaknesses in the board script ?

"They" are probably trying to get access to the super-secret-sub-forum where we only post the winning trades in advance .

@Big Mike, it looks like I stopped receiving email notices of my subscribed threads sometime yesterday, 8/10/16. I've made no changes to my FIO settings, there is nothing in my spam folder, and I am getting emails from other sources.

FYI.

Bob.
