The previous Big Mike Challenge from March 2011 was a big success, so I am going to start a second one.

The prize is an Apple iPad 2 (or equivalent cost if you want something else instead).

Take note - this contest is about Teaching Trading Methods. This one is not a Journal contest.

To be eligible for the prize, you must:
  • Be a current futures.io (formerly BMT) member as of June 1, 2011.
  • Have your own thread, which you started, in one of the following sections of the forum: Traders Hideout (if you are not an Elite member) or The Elite Circle or Elite Group Trading Methods (for Elite members).
  • Your thread must be about teaching a trading method to others.
  • -- YOU MUST REPLY TO THIS THREAD AND GIVE ME YOUR THREAD URL TO ENROLL --
  • You must make one post per day, every day, Mon-Fri, until the end of June 30. Skipping one day here and there is fine, but don't skip several days in a row.
  • Your posts, and your thread, must contain multiple screenshots and/or YouTube videos. If using screenshots, please mark them up using any number of free editing tools.
  • Your daily post can be a review of acceptable trades for the methodology in todays market, highlighting valid trades on your screen shots or video.
  • You must encourage members to ask you questions about your methodology, and you must answer them.
  • You must provide any necessary indicators for download as required for your posted method.
  • Your post must be made on futures.io (formerly BMT), not a link to some off-site location like a blog. Embedding YouTube videos is fine for use as a summary of what you've written on futures.io (formerly BMT).
  • futures.io (formerly BMT) Administrators are excluded from winning, but futures.io (formerly BMT) Moderators can participate if they wish.

The whole idea here is to educate. I want this contest to be about teaching and helping one another. The last contest was about helping yourself (journal), so it seems right that this contest is about helping others. Your thread and your posts should be aimed with that in mind.

The winner of the contest will be chosen by a User Poll. At the end of June, a user poll will be created that gives members the option to vote on who should win. The enrolled thread's will be listed as choices. Make certain you do not forget to reply to this thread and give your thread URL to enroll in the contest.

Big Mike's decisions are final.

If you already have a thread that is about teaching a methodology, you don't have to create a new one if you don't want to. Just be sure you reply and post the thread URL so I will mark it as "enrolled" into the contest, and make sure it exists in either Traders Hideout, or The Elite Circle.

You guys are welcome to use this thread to talk about contest entries and discuss them.

Good luck! I look forward to reading everyone's threads!

Last -- do me a favor, tell all your friends about our teaching contest and encourage them to come to futures.io (formerly BMT) and create their own thread.

one question about the indicators, what if we do not have the right to share the indicator as it was written by someone else?
as in my case, it's is his proprietary code not mine.

Only open methods will be considered, if you do not have the right to share the indicator then it won't work.

so for clarity sake:

that means, that i'll have to figure another indicator to work with other than my trading system or i'll just won't need to share it?
if it's the latter making screenshot is that appropriate?

If the method you are teaching uses "indicator xyz" and it is on your screenshots/videos/templates, then you need to make indicator xyz available for download in your thread (free).

The purpose of this contest is indeed education. The purpose of the prior contest was to journal, which primarily helps yourself but not so much others. We'll see how this one goes. Everyone seems to love talking about methodologies, so hopefully it goes well

I am a few days behind on private messages - normal for me. I put most of my time in on the public forum.

well it makes sense as indicators worth using only support a traders methodologies about how to trade, and how to trade is the ocean vast in which all the other problems arise, which journaling, psychology and money management all try to aid traders having a bad methodology about the markets.

yeah you seem very on top of the the forum, as i was a little perplexed.

I'm not sure I can add my thread here. As I did yesterday, I'm trying to explain what I've seen and what I did, and draw some technical analysis on charts but, everyday is different so, in fact, is not an ABC pattern. I don't feel I can teach anybody, In fact, I'm teaching myself everyday with my experiences, that's why I started this journal, to keep a track of what I think everyday, now that I'm more discretionary, and that's why I try to write a lot about each trade, and each thing that happens to me in this journey.

That's a journal thread so it won't qualify. You should feel free to create a new thread in one of the listed areas, and don't worry so much about not being able to teach people everything. Just focus on teaching them what you've learned already, I'm sure it is more than you realize!

Hi Mike

Just my 2 cents on the topic.

I think this is a great idea but i am not sure it will work.

First of all, allowing existing threads in the contest opens doors to threads highly appreciated here, that are spread on 100s pages and couple years in time. I very much appreciate some of them (sharky's, wizard's, perry's, etc) but for a new comer it may be pretty hard to follow. Takes days to go through each post and methods seems to evolve, so in the end some rules are different, some indicators are different and you have to try put somehting together yourself.

On the other hand, most successful members seems to "promote" the idea that every trader should develop his own system. That a method has to be developed by you and not learned/taken from others. Some of them also use custom indicators that they are probably not willing to share (would be already public otherwise) and a few uses commercial indicators that they can't share.

Last but not least, i think there is not enough motivation for some1 to enroll. The prize is symbolic compared with what a good trader earns and even with the amount of time and commitment needed to run an eligible thread (post every day, explain everything, answer questions, etc).

To end this post, i remember some thread (might been on another forum), where some1 asked people what would they do if they had a proven to work trading system. Nobody said "i will share it with the rest". Most said like "i would keep it for myself" or "i would sell it to some big companies for lot of money". And to tell you the truth, i understand them. Traders compete with each other in the market, deep in their mind, they all want everybody else to lose.

Yours truly
"Omar"

Thanks Omar.

Like our past contest (journals), existing threads are welcome - but only posts made within the contest period (June) will be considered when deciding who should win. I'll make this clear during the voting process. So it won't matter if the thread has 50 pages prior to June if during June there are only 5 posts made to it, it won't win.

With regards to developing your own method as a trader - yes I agree, but the idea is not to clone what is being shared - it is to use this information as a foundation of ideas to create your own methodology.

As for the rest, futures.io (formerly BMT) is all about sharing. There are plenty of posts and threads here (tens of thousands) that show people are willing to share what they've learned.

My hope for this contest is simply to educate people, maybe get them thinking about something they hadn't previously considered. Engage in conversation and discussion. Learn and educate. Have fun. If we accomplish most or even some of those, we'll be in fine shape.

Let me know if you have specific ideas on how to improve the contest.

Mike

OK, that sounds good but in this case i think the link submitted here should be to the last page with a new post where there should be at least a summary of the method, and not the beginning of the thread. There will be just too much "noise" with the big threads. The new posts will mean nothing without some other old posts.

I surely agree that many people share many useful things in here. But i think there is a difference from sharing an indicator, chart or idea and teaching their own trading method specifically.

Indeed, the goal is to help others develop their own system, but i can assure you most will try to clone. Most will probably fail too, but that is another story.

I hope i am wrong and many others will join, but it was just David so far.

Well I prefer to think positively. Yes, people will try to clone it -- there is no stopping that. It doesn't mean they can't learn something in the process, which is the point here.

Hopefully you will decide to contribute as well. You seem to be getting caught up in the "don't make me reveal my holy grail" thinking. I encourage you to instead think of all the other methodology related items you can teach. Perhaps you are a pattern trader, and you can start a thread on the ten most popular patterns and how to detect them. Perhaps you are a volume trader, and you will start a thread on volume analysis.

The point being the trading method is just one small part of what defines a trader, and I am asking you to share this part with us during June and help others in the process.

No, you are wrong. All i said is based on my experience with online marketing, that has as many winners and losers as trading too. The same basic principles apply. Most people that make money keep their methods for themself; most "gurus" that sell software or courses are scammers and most beginners lose money.

I wish i had some trading method that i trust and be consistent with even in SIM, but i don't. I am trying to put together bits and info that is floating around, but without success. I am as interested as you to see more successful traders competing here.

I am sorry if i hijacked the thread and posted too much. I will wait silently to be proven wrong

well this is the nicest place that i have found on the net for learning, and if you are looking for your own methodology there is no better way to do than learning other people's trading system and picking and choosing from that which best suits your personality, if not you'll have psychology issues, and other problems. pho sho.

So long as you meet the conditions of post #1, mainly that you post to it every day or so. You might need to increase the number of markets monitored so you can have "activity" to post daily.

I'm curious, which of all the iPad models are you referring to? (only wifi? 3g? capacity?) Or is it like the previous contest where it was a $600 value prize which could be any tablet or cash?

If I understand correctly, only posts starting on June 1st and ending on June 30th will be considered?

For the final vote, who is going to vote? The reason I ask is because non-Elite members won't have a chance to take a look at threads that are in the Elite-member only section.

I'm new to this forum, (but not to trading) so I'm trying to get a feel for it. It seems pretty cool that you would have contests like this one that help people learn about different methods while rewarding the person taking the time to teach it.

I haven't looked through all the forum, but I'm pretty sure there might be similar systems to mine. For example, using similar indicators. Would that matter?

The prize is a base iPad 2, if you wish to upgrade it we can handle that privately if you win.

Only posts in June are considered.

Voting is decided based on user poll as I mentioned in post #1 - it will be open to all members. I expect most the people participating are already Elite, as are most of the active users of the forum.

It doesn't matter if someone else has a similar method - just focus on laying out your method the best you can, answering questions, etc.

Let me know if you have specific ideas on how to improve the contest.
Mike

Hi Mike,

I'm not sure it these are of help but here goes:

General:
Teaching someone else is an interesting and valuable experience - for both the teacher and the student - if the teacher is professional dedicated organized and a good clear communicator and if the student is attentive (listens and trys to understand versus argues) and does the work, home work, required (that is if exercises are given then they are done).

Specifics:
1. Organization
make available a few pages editable by the instructor where they can
- post definitions, terminology, trading rules
- post FAQs

2. Suggest that the instructor post a summary overview before the start of the course of what they intent to cover. This could include things like: the general idea (a summary paragraph) of what the trading method is. Concepts they plan to cover, what style of trading personality this is suited to.

With the summary overview, "students" can review the different summaries and pick one (or two or three ) that are the most interesting to them to follow and learn from.

3. <optional> The instructor can have a separate parallel thread where active "enrolled" students can try out concepts and post their charts, with questions and the teacher can answer. This could help with clarity and FAQs could link to posts in this thread so that new students - or auditing students - could link from the FAQ to a students version of the question and the teachers answer.

I hope that is of some help.

..........
peace, love and joy to you

That's a journal thread so it won't qualify. You should feel free to create a new thread in one of the listed areas, and don't worry so much about not being able to teach people everything. Just focus on teaching them what you've learned already, I'm sure it is more than you realize!

Mike

If I am not a profitable trader, then it could be argued that everything I have already learned so far might be wrong. I could teach someone everything I have learned, but it seems to me they would be a fool to follow any of my advice since I can't prove, (with some degree of profitability), that it has any value...

also, because one thing I learned is that trading is a personal journey, (though, again I have no facts to back this up), it might very well be counter productive for me to look at threads of others teaching the many different ways that they trade. I am susceptible to going off on other paths looking for the holy grail and, even though I might find a nugget here or there to augment my own learning process, it seems it might be more distracting to look at someone else's trading methods and being drawn to trying new things...

Those are my initial thoughts on all this...
Possibly I am missing the point.

You can get help from teachers, but you are going to have to learn a lot by yourself, sitting alone in a room.

Good thoughts . If you arent profitable thats no indication everything you learned could be wrong , so to speak . When one learns to be profitable you will see that "wrong" doesnt apply to trading like in other places in our lives . In trading it doesnt matter if youre wrong because whatever you did to be wrong could at some time prove you to be right . What does matter is that you operate in a consistent manner placing trades and managing them the same way every time . Its hard to be diciplined and consistent , believe me . Teaching a method or a way to look for trades that might constitute a viable edge is very different from teaching how to operate as a trader over the long haul in a diciplined manner .

If you believe you have learned nothing, then I suppose you could teach what not to do.

But I find that unlikely. I'm sure you've learned something, so you should teach others what you've learned so far.

I am really surprised by the negative posts in this thread.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be negative. I had just read the original post when it first came out and after digesting it for a couple days, that is what came out. I have learned that most of the time I would do best to keep quiet but sometimes I fall short of that goal...

Thanks,

Nonsense, this is a discussion forum after all!

It's just that I get private messages all the time where people think they've got nothing to contribute. I say nonsense, I don't buy it. Just the fact that you think you have nothing to contribute means that others can relate to you right there, so it seems - so hopefully you'll find the courage to share your experience so far.

It doesn't matter if you want to teach us about how to detect double tops and double bottoms, how to draw trendlines, how to find ABC/1-2-3 patterns, how to trade with CCI, how to use a MACD, whatever. It's wide open, and I feel confident you've got something to teach us

I do not agree with you at all. Most people who make money keep the method to themselves is not because they don't want to share. The problem is, they cannot teach. The problem are two folds: 1) Not everyone can teach. 2) Not everyone is a good student. To teach someone, you must know how to teach and the person you are teaching must willing to learn. As a trader, your job is to trade, not to look for good students.

Why do you think Steven Schonfeld make so much money? Do you think he just keeps everything to himself? No, he teaches everything he knows to his traders and rewarding them handsomely for performance.

Trading and weight loss are the same. People want the easiest and the no-work (no loss) method so they can sit back to rip the reward. But as soon as the first draw down or plateau (in weight loss) came, they gave up and look for the next magic formula.

I can say everything need to know about trading are freely available in the internet or you can buy from your bookstore. Trading is a trail and error sport that you must go through to "get it". Everyone is different in this process. Took Nicolas Darvas (How I made $2 millions) 1 bull market. On the other day, it took Gary Smith (How I Trade for a living) 20 years.

I've noticed over 500 members have viewed this thread, but only 5 have thanked the first post -- 1% -- if you guys have input on how to improve the contest, please let me know.

Mike

It is a wonderful idea but I don't think you gave enough notice. I would basically have to think of what to do this holiday weekend and have never put much thought into teaching other people.
I hate reading bad trading stuff to the point I would not want to add to it unless I knew I had a good idea that could be presented.

well i think it is understandable as i believe forums are a place for those seeking to learn, and those that are learning have no confidence that what they know is worth teaching, but any teacher knows you have not really learned until you have taught. they is something about that process of internalizing information that is rather enlightening for the teacher.

This is not just about good teachers or good students (I think this forum is full of eager students anyway). This is mainly about sharing a money making method.

Imagine that back in the "gold rush" times some1 found a good spot, with lot of gold. How easy would it be to share that information? It does not need teaching skills or good students (anyone can dig). All he has to say is "come here, there is lot of gold". Will he do that? Or will he do the best to keep that place secret?

Any kind of system/method/source that makes money will be used by the one that knows/owes it to make him more money. Specially when sharing it cause him troubles and/or frustration (as you said, a trader has better things to do)

From what i know Steven Schonfeld does not teach anyone anything for free. He has some traders that he works with, but there is a mutual benefit. The traders make him money too. Is not like he is spending time to teach them without having something to earn in the process.

These days you can find information about anything, from trading to bomb making. For example you can find many books and videos about tennis. But is unlikely for some1 to become a top player just by reading books, looking at videos and training himself. The problem with trading is also that you may not have a second chance. Lose all your savings and your "trial and error" journey is over. I don't say is impossible, but it may take way more time to do that by yourself thought trial and error then if you had some1 to guide you.

Mike

I'm surprised as well.

After all, as many disclaimers say, this is for educational purposes only. It doesn't mean that anyone trying to learn or educate themselves on somebody else's strategy will have to go and trade the strategy immediately. Every trader has to do their "due diligence" (so to speak) before deciding whether they will adopt the strategy or not, regardless of if it is found at a forum or if money was paid for it. Sometimes a strategy does not fit well with one's trading style or account size.

I think the point is to lay your strategy out there and answer questions about it, so people following the thread can decide if they want to implement the strategy or not. They can always paper trade for a couple of months before deciding if they will adopt it or not.

Personally, I would find it interesting to learn about other people's strategies, and think this is a good idea. Like someone stated previously, it will also help the person teaching the strategy as one can learn a lot from teaching others.

Well, I find the thread interesting.
(After 10:am and not FE so .... rambling...)

I look at the board, futures.io (formerly BMT), as a microcosm view of traders thoughts.
  • What are they thinking?
  • What is interesting to them?

One thing I have noticed is that their are very few 'students' posting in this thread. They are not coming forward and saying "Hey! I don't want to be the teacher - but I do want to learn!, C'mon teachers let's go!"

Also there are not a lot of existing 'teachers' (those who have already been posting their threads) saying,
"This is great!!
I'll start a new fresh well organized thread focus and dedicated to delivering a specific measurable set of learning within the month of June. That is the challenge, no more rambling but cut to what do they need? and how can I deliver it in a clear focused manner that produces results for the students?"

-------
One side thought was that if I wanted to teach, I would want the students to commit. In the real world you go for an evening course at a university - "Investing for the Profitable Day Trader.-101" Yes, that will be $212.50 plus tax. Will that be cash or Visa? (Somehow people tend to pay attention when their wallet is involved.)

So here the equivalent would be students posting:
"if .(you current threadite teacher)... post a course.. I will commit to being an active participant!"
----

Ok, all the above was rambling... but are all the students?
... silent lurkers...?

..........
peace, love and joy to you

It does not need teaching skills or good students (anyone can dig). All he has to say is "come here, there is lot of gold". Will he do that? Or will he do the best to keep that place secret?

Any kind of system/method/source that makes money will be used by the one that knows/owes it to make him more money. Specially when sharing it cause him troubles and/or frustration (as you said, a trader has better things to do)

I cannot stop you from being negative.

And no, the forum is not full of eager student. It is full of people that just want someone to tell them what to do and how to do it, so they can sit back to counting the money.

There is a gold rush recently. There were plenty of people tell the public to buy metals after the tech bubble. If you have bought old in 2001 when it was $300/oz, you would have made 5 folds your investment in 10 years. If you have bought silver, you would have made like 10 fold. But most people just don't listen or do any due diligence. Due diligence means work, and no one want to works.

From what i know Steven Schonfeld does not teach anyone anything for free. He has some traders that he works with, but there is a mutual benefit. The traders make him money too. Is not like he is spending time to teach them without having something to earn in the process.

This is bring back my point #1, people don't want to learn. They just want someone to tell them what to do and how to do it. In other words, they expect a free lunch.

Why would you expect someone to take you under his wings, spend time and money, and expect no return? Sure, he want you to success, because he has invests time and money on you, but his goal is wanting you to make money for him. Simple as that.

This is the same reason why you employee pay you X because he expect you make him X+Y. You probably he is not hiring me out of charity. He is hiring me because I can make him money. You are god damn right about it.

omaron View Post
These days you can find information about anything, from trading to bomb making. For example you can find many books and videos about tennis. But is unlikely for some1 to become a top player just by reading books, looking at videos and training himself. The problem with trading is also that you may not have a second chance. Lose all your savings and your "trial and error" journey is over. I don't say is impossible, but it may take way more time to do that by yourself thought trial and error then if you had some1 to guide you.

Nowadays, you have a better chance than ever because demo are freely available. You can demo for years before you put any real money on the line. Unfortunately, people who just read a book or two, watch a few videos and think they "got it" and put real money on the line. They have read some traders who turn 5k or 500 into 8 or 9 figures, and they believe they can do that as well.

Replying to you post gave me a deja vu. You sound like my best friend, who is unemployed, sitting at home and not doing anything all day. He quit his government job 2 years ago without a backup plan, so that mean not bring any money home. Just waiting for lady lucky to come to him. I advice him stop sitting at home and start doing something. Go around the neighborhood and ask if anyone want to do lawn care or something. Maybe in a few short years, you can retire your wife with this service you started today.

His response? He said if it is so easy why does not everyone do it.

To him, it is better to sit at home instead of trying any alternative. Because if the alternative works, then everyone would be doing it and profit will just vaporize

Mike

Hi Mike,

thanks,
charles Booth

to teach a trading strategy that I was developing from my journal. I like the contest format because it instills discipline and commitment that I need in my trading. I would like to enter the contest not because of a chance of winning (most likely won't happen) but because someone including myself might learn something.

I was going to teach this strategy to trade a stock index ETF and create the thread in the Traders Hideout, Stock and ETF Trading.

Trouble is I would be teaching something I developed but haven't traded yet. So it would start as a work-in-process and by the end of June, I and any viewers would learn something.

I attached an image of what I would teach. I would choose one of the charts.

What do you think Big Mike??

Yes, go for it! Perhaps all this confusion is over my choice of words "teach". Perhaps a better word would have been "discuss".

Be sure to post the thread URL here before June 1st.

I'm pretty new here so this requirement confuses me. Although I am an Elite member, is it not the case that the thread would get the greatest visibility and questions if it was placed in the Traders Hideout rather than one of the Elite-only sections?

Hi Howard,

A lot of Elite Members only want to share inside of the non-public section of the forum. So they have the option to do so here, and since most active participants on the forum are Elite, I don't think it would diminish your chances of winning the contest to do so. But the choice is yours.

Forgive me for belaboring this. I have always found that to learn a subject well, one should teach it. The major benefit to me will be the feedback and questions I will get and my ability to answer them effectively. I want to locate where I can do some good for the readers and where I can add depth to my own understanding of my trading strategy. I'm simply too new here to appreciate the culture here (every forum has one) and where I can best accomplish my goals.

Thanks
Howard

The two forums are equal in my eyes.

Traders Hideout currently has 31,820 posts. This includes subforums.
The Elite Circle currently has 30,842 posts. This includes subforums.

The choice is yours, start your thread based on where you feel most comfortable. I want to also take the opportunity to say thanks to all the members who have posted contest in the Elite section to make it what it is today

Have a good weekend,

I cannot stop you from being negative.

I like to believe i am realistic, not negative.

Quoting
It is full of people that just want someone to tell them what to do and how to do it, so they can sit back to counting the money.

I thought that is what any kind teacher should do, tell you what to do and how to do. If there are lot of people waiting for that means there are lot of potential students. I agree, some people have no desire to spend time and learn or work, just want to count the money. I would not say is most of them here though (at least not active members). This forum wouldn't be what it is if most people just wanted to count money doing nothing.

Quoting
Why would you expect someone to take you under his wings, spend time and money, and expect no return? Sure, he want you to success, because he has invests time and money on you, but his goal is wanting you to make money for him. Simple as that.

I don't expect that. That was my point from the start. Some1 that has something valuable to share, that is willing to put time and efforts in teaching others, is not very likely to do that for free. Potentially winning an iPad is not a reason. That is more like a symbolic prize.

Quoting

Well.. there are a few similarities. I "sit at home" and I am "unemployed" too, if that means working for some1 else. But that's about all. I weight my options very well and i only act when i know i have a good RR, to say so.

I left my job 7 years ago (i was working in a bank as network administrator) when i was already making more money online then my salary. After being on my own for couple years I started an online business (along with 2 partners) that netted about $1.5M in 5 years (not a fortune, i know, but decent for me) and doing some other things on the side. I am at my desk 16h a day, every day, and when i am not working for my biz, i am trying to learn about trading.

You are right though about what you said about SIM trade and stuff. First time i thought about trading was 5 or more years ago, before my online biz. I could not afford though to buy access to datafeeds, buy software and so on. Generally, today is much easier from that point of view. For me in particular, is more complicated. I now have a family to support, a business to take care of, etc. Most of what i know and how i make money was self thought, but back then i had no worries. Now, if i can do something to avoid spending 7 more years to learn trading, i will.

Hi Mike, I started a thread, I don't know how to post the URL yet but it is in the hideout, under index futures trading and called "My ES Scalping Strategy 2+ pts/day", This is my first time contributing to any forum, so hope I can keep up.

Thanks Jeff

My entry: Trading Index Options OTM Vertical Credit Spreads

When I searched the forum, I found nothing on condors and very little on spreads. Provided I used the search tool properly, I'll assume I will need to define or reference many of the options concepts that come up.

I've identified my daily routine and shown what I propose to publish in the thread. I'll also answer any questions that are posted.

What do you think of the idea of listing the threads (with links) in this contest in the Notice above?

Hi Mike,

I am a still much a newbie comparied to others here. How about an AutoTrading for NT7 thread, do you think that would qualify. I spend much of my weekends learning about what does and doesn't work (okay, so far doesn't work and why). Also, I know you were hoping for M-F postings, but that isn't when I have much of my time. Would it be fair to say 5 posts a week (3 or 4 sometimes on the weekend) or do you really need M-F for this promotion?

I think this tread would have a limited interest due to the specific content, but would you consider it as an entry?

I debated about doing this. Seems every time I try to tell someone something about how to trade, I end up looking like a fool. But I decided to have a go at it not because of the iPad, but because it will be useful to me in developing consistency in looking at a single thing for a month.

So my thread is located at and I will start posting in it every day.

Cheers.

You are welcome to start a thread that discusses autotrading. The thread would need to be about how to auto trade, and not about a specific auto traders results.

As for post frequency, you really need to be posting just about every day as I said in order to qualify. The thread is intended for discussions, if you don't post almost daily then it really curtails the discussion.

Would it be beneficial for anyone else to have a list somewhere of all the entries?

I've found that some threads I see, that I wish I would have seen when they started. Since the contest entires aren't all in the same place, and NOW is the time when a bunch of them will be started, it could be a good opportunity to get to participate in a thread from the beginning.

Maybe in the FAQ of this thread, or somewhere else? Or is this list somewhere already?

Hi,

As I've said a few times now in this thread...

I will post a summary of all contest entries once the deadline for entry has passed. That deadline is midnight tonight, so I'll post a summary tomorrow in this thread.

I am concerned that either I am in the wrong place (elite section) or my topic may not be of sufficient interest to the membership. I've had few views and few comments. Perhaps I have unrealistic expectations.

I would appreciate some guidance. Trading Index Options OTM Vertical Credit Spreads

my only suggestion to you is to be much more general, why not just start with "options trading" what is and is not an option and why ppl should be trading options. Then go with the flow of any discussion on the topic, as i cut my teeth on options imo there is a lot to learn before addressing credit spreads.

Patience. The primary audience on futures.io (formerly BMT) is futures, I think I said this already. It is mainly because I am a futures trader and was posting about futures when I started, and all my friends were also primarily futures traders.

There are options traders here, and I encourage diversification - so threads on options are welcome.

Do you have a tread on creating videos for this site? Not sure how to do it, but your VIDEO Strategy was very good and would like to see if this makes sense for my thread.

No I don't have a how-to for this yet, but I plan to make one soon. Short version: download Camstudio recorder (free), then upload the output file to youtube and embed on futures.io (formerly BMT). Click on the word youtube to the left to get instructions on embedding.

It would be nice to have a BB code to play self hosted (my server) mp4 files. Whenever I try to use one of the hosting companies (youtube, vimeo, etc) I loose so much in conversion and resizing as to make my videos useless. The solution I use now, a text link, is not the most elegant.

You shouldn't lose anything, YouTube and Vimeo offer HD services and you can see millions of examples of HD content on those sites. You are probably just not encoding it properly. I'll make a video on how to do this one day, but for now I'm sure you can find something on Google
