wow, over 16,680 members and yet 327 votes... less than 2% of the population... I wonder why so little votes, perhaps you should create a poll to find out why some not vote.. was it the quality of the posts? the lack of time to read/participate? etc... just thoughts... nothing more.

I do not think that it was lazyness. To vote, you should have read all the threads of the participants, or at least 5 or 6 shortlisted threads.

This is quite time consuming. Unless you just give your vote to the guy who you know best.

or it could also be the content was not as interesting as one would have needed to attract enough readers and as a consequence voters... content quality is key to engage someone to interact and participate...

Would you rather have 100% turnout for an election, voting however the last attack ad told them to vote, or an educated populace vote for their best choice. There were some great threads, great participation, and those who were helped, contributed, or engaged; voted. I followed several threads and had a hard time deciding who to vote for. It broke me out of my lurking habit and into participating. Ultimately, that's the win for a forum. This contest engaged, helped thread starters and readers, tip of the hat to Big Mike. I'm stumped to think of another contest idea. We should keep 'em coming. I'm sure Mike has lots of I-Pads laying around the house looking for new owners.

not arguing as to how helpful it might have been to others... but rather just concerned about how few it engaged to vote... my point being that perhaps the content was not as appealing to the majority...

IMO, if this was my forum and I wanted to increase my traffic (for whatever reasons) I would want to ensure the quality of the content was able to attract and engage as many as possible, not just a few... hence why I suggested to @bigmike to create a poll to find out why the lack of participation from the majority... but not my forum, so my comments can clearly be disregarded.

2% is not quite lot given the overall population, IMO.. but that is just my opinion... of course, in normal marketing a 2% follow through rate is quite high in any event...

Some of the threads were in the Elite section and some were not. Since I am not an elite member I could not read all the threads that were part of the contest therefore I personally am not going to vote if I can't read all the post to make a fair comparison.

exactly my point... if we dont ask and discuss why so little success on the polling... then we wont know where the forum can improve and how...

but as I said, not my forum...
