Well I prefer to think positively. Yes, people will try to clone it -- there is no stopping that. It doesn't mean they can't learn something in the process, which is the point here.

Hopefully you will decide to contribute as well. You seem to be getting caught up in the "don't make me reveal my holy grail" thinking. I encourage you to instead think of all the other methodology related items you can teach. Perhaps you are a pattern trader, and you can start a thread on the ten most popular patterns and how to detect them. Perhaps you are a volume trader, and you will start a thread on volume analysis.

The point being the trading method is just one small part of what defines a trader, and I am asking you to share this part with us during June and help others in the process.

Mike

No, you are wrong. All i said is based on my experience with online marketing, that has as many winners and losers as trading too. The same basic principles apply. Most people that make money keep their methods for themself; most "gurus" that sell software or courses are scammers and most beginners lose money.

I wish i had some trading method that i trust and be consistent with even in SIM, but i don't. I am trying to put together bits and info that is floating around, but without success. I am as interested as you to see more successful traders competing here.

I am sorry if i hijacked the thread and posted too much. I will wait silently to be proven wrong

well this is the nicest place that i have found on the net for learning, and if you are looking for your own methodology there is no better way to do than learning other people's trading system and picking and choosing from that which best suits your personality, if not you'll have psychology issues, and other problems. pho sho.

So long as you meet the conditions of post #1, mainly that you post to it every day or so. You might need to increase the number of markets monitored so you can have "activity" to post daily.

I'm curious, which of all the iPad models are you referring to? (only wifi? 3g? capacity?) Or is it like the previous contest where it was a $600 value prize which could be any tablet or cash?

If I understand correctly, only posts starting on June 1st and ending on June 30th will be considered?

For the final vote, who is going to vote? The reason I ask is because non-Elite members won't have a chance to take a look at threads that are in the Elite-member only section.

I'm new to this forum, (but not to trading) so I'm trying to get a feel for it. It seems pretty cool that you would have contests like this one that help people learn about different methods while rewarding the person taking the time to teach it.

I haven't looked through all the forum, but I'm pretty sure there might be similar systems to mine. For example, using similar indicators. Would that matter?

The prize is a base iPad 2, if you wish to upgrade it we can handle that privately if you win.

Only posts in June are considered.

Voting is decided based on user poll as I mentioned in post #1 - it will be open to all members. I expect most the people participating are already Elite, as are most of the active users of the forum.

It doesn't matter if someone else has a similar method - just focus on laying out your method the best you can, answering questions, etc.

Let me know if you have specific ideas on how to improve the contest.
Mike

Hi Mike,

I'm not sure it these are of help but here goes:

General:
Teaching someone else is an interesting and valuable experience - for both the teacher and the student - if the teacher is professional dedicated organized and a good clear communicator and if the student is attentive (listens and trys to understand versus argues) and does the work, home work, required (that is if exercises are given then they are done).

Specifics:
1. Organization
make available a few pages editable by the instructor where they can
- post definitions, terminology, trading rules
- post FAQs

2. Suggest that the instructor post a summary overview before the start of the course of what they intent to cover. This could include things like: the general idea (a summary paragraph) of what the trading method is. Concepts they plan to cover, what style of trading personality this is suited to.

With the summary overview, "students" can review the different summaries and pick one (or two or three ) that are the most interesting to them to follow and learn from.

3. <optional> The instructor can have a separate parallel thread where active "enrolled" students can try out concepts and post their charts, with questions and the teacher can answer. This could help with clarity and FAQs could link to posts in this thread so that new students - or auditing students - could link from the FAQ to a students version of the question and the teachers answer.

I hope that is of some help.

..........
peace, love and joy to you

That's a journal thread so it won't qualify. You should feel free to create a new thread in one of the listed areas, and don't worry so much about not being able to teach people everything. Just focus on teaching them what you've learned already, I'm sure it is more than you realize!

Mike

If I am not a profitable trader, then it could be argued that everything I have already learned so far might be wrong. I could teach someone everything I have learned, but it seems to me they would be a fool to follow any of my advice since I can't prove, (with some degree of profitability), that it has any value...

also, because one thing I learned is that trading is a personal journey, (though, again I have no facts to back this up), it might very well be counter productive for me to look at threads of others teaching the many different ways that they trade. I am susceptible to going off on other paths looking for the holy grail and, even though I might find a nugget here or there to augment my own learning process, it seems it might be more distracting to look at someone else's trading methods and being drawn to trying new things...

Those are my initial thoughts on all this...
Possibly I am missing the point.

You can get help from teachers, but you are going to have to learn a lot by yourself, sitting alone in a room.

Good thoughts . If you arent profitable thats no indication everything you learned could be wrong , so to speak . When one learns to be profitable you will see that "wrong" doesnt apply to trading like in other places in our lives . In trading it doesnt matter if youre wrong because whatever you did to be wrong could at some time prove you to be right . What does matter is that you operate in a consistent manner placing trades and managing them the same way every time . Its hard to be diciplined and consistent , believe me . Teaching a method or a way to look for trades that might constitute a viable edge is very different from teaching how to operate as a trader over the long haul in a diciplined manner .

If you believe you have learned nothing, then I suppose you could teach what not to do.

But I find that unlikely. I'm sure you've learned something, so you should teach others what you've learned so far.

I am really surprised by the negative posts in this thread.

Mike
