Hi , what would happen if the market gaps past your profit target in a bear market, (ie if the markets falls by 40%) on the S&P eminni index?

Would you get a better profit if the buyers eventually starts buying? Or would you only get filled if price comes back to that level? Or can you choose to exit with a market order and get out immediatly more than likely for a better profit than what your limit order target was that it gapped?

Thanks

In my opinion that would only be possible if the market was closed or halted
and the gap is at a (re)opening.
