I have no objective, factual answer (though there must be one?) but from my limited experience it does.

I'm a former forex trader, and in my opinion NQ is a much better approximation to currency-pairs like Cable and EUR/USD than ES is, in terms of volatility, including at night (here: i.e. during the Asian session).

I don't actually trade at night, but from what I've seen I'd far rather try NQ than ES at these times of day. I'd certainly do so using volume bars, rather than time-period bars, though.

Thanks for the post. I opened NQ and had a lovely move in Asia right away (ES showed it too though).
Will keep a close eye on this pair.
Any other feedback of NQ traders in Asia session?

Hey! I watch the indices at night (mostly ES but both move similarly).

When we have BIG news like China's Trade Balance (tonight), we can see lots of movement. Just do some looking back in the past and see what the ranges are. Maybe look into calculating the Average Daily Range of the Asian session so you can see which has more movement.

PS: I noticed you like to say thank you in your posts which I find very kind. But don't forget there is a button for it too

What about just trading the US afternoon session?
Its starts at 5am your time and the then maybe the London open at 7pm.
You could continue to trade ES at 5am and maybe FESX, FDAX, FGBL at 7pm?

US arvo session starts more like 2am here at the moment

Thanks for the reply. I just looked at NKD and volume is awefully low. I heard NKD is best traded not in USD (i.e. not on CME) but on the Asian exchange...

Currency futures are pretty hit and miss in Asia (6J, 6A etc).

Nikkei 225 mini on the OSE looks like the most attractive instrument to trade during the Asian session. The book is usually stacked with no spread. The trouble is no one seems to provide accurate data except for E-Signal. It's either them or you're stuck with what IB provide. I've heard how CGQ supports N225 data, but good luck getting anywhere with them.

If you have a decent size account you could trade SPI, otherwise don't waste your time.

SPI, serious?
I looked at it a few times in the past and never saw a lot of sense in trading it.
Anyone got experience in it?

I am mostly intraday trading ES and CL and live in Australia.
My problem is that the hours (basically midnight my time to 8am) are killing me.

To anyone living on this side of the world, what can you recommend as an alternative that moves during Asian hours, is volatile and reliable to trade as ES/CL??

Thanks for help.

You might want to look into BUND, have not traded it personally but its open I think is around 4/5pm your time.

ES seems to often have some good moves leading into the US open, anywhere between 6pm your time on wards till US open.

Just check with your broker what your margins will be trading at these times.

Good idea re Bund. I have looked at it a bit in the past and now with the time change it's a little bit easier to trade for me (being about 4pm here when it starts moving).

Anyone trading the Bund can give some feedback? Is it a nice instrument to trade?

I came across it on one of the training clips on the Jigsaw customer hub. It shows with explanation how bund can be traded with DOM. Not sure if that's any help to you.

I suppose we should be fostering that illusion, arguably? Directly or indirectly, we're making a proportion of our livings from people who imagine that any kind of trading is "easy money"?
