Stoploss statistics

hi,

assumption: the stoploss amount is the same in both methods.

does anyone know of any statistics for exchange held/accepted stoploss vs server side/hidden/ mental/on your computer held stoploss. which one get hit more often?

example:

stoploss style 1: mental stoploss or controlled by a automated strategy but this method does not flash/show the order until stoploss threshold is exceeded.

stoploss style2: order for the stoploss is submitted via your order management system and the stoploss has been "accepted" by the exchange.

i'm asking because i feel that 90% of the times when i use the second menthod, my stoploss is bound to be taken out. but if i use style 1; my stoplosses get hit less. why?

You can't do that.

The order books of the CME don't accept or hold any stop orders, only limits. In fact, there is no such thing as a stop order, only a limit order and a market order. When you submit a stop via your execution platform it is held by your broker on their server and not by the exchange. When the price level is hit it is sent to the exchange by your broker as a market order.

Hope that helps.
