I read a ton here all the time, but I do not post often because I am no master yet. That being said I am on my way and I want to thank everyone here for all of their knowledge and advice I have been reading on different things over the years.
So here it is, I am evolving and I started putting volume profile into my trading a while ago and like it a lot, but I am at the point now that I want to start adding order flow for better timing and possibly to help me hold longer. I have a couple of questions about this journey.
All questions below are based on these things: I am more interested in footprint charts right now, but open to other ideas like jigsaw...would just prefer footprint chart ideas, I am also a very visual learner.
1. does anyone have any good educational videos about this they would recommend, I have watched a bunch on youtube and many seem to be very generalized, the ones I really liked were from orderflows.com (mike something) If you have ever seen his material some of it makes sense (to me the newbie anyway) I wanted to get his indicator and his training class but decided not to after the reviews and stuff here (sadly...but thankful to everyone).....I want to learn about stacking the bid, delta divergence, absorption, ice berg orders, imbalance etc etc.
2. Does anyone have any indicators they recommend for this, I know NT8 already have their own but I need something that highlights absorption and POC and sweeping orders etc. because being new to this there is a lot going on, and having something that helps me to recognize these things helps me learn them faster (Again I really like orderflows.com but not willing to deal with that, so something similar from someone else?)....I was very interested in MZpack and I downloaded their free trial but I cannot get it to load on my chart and I have emailed them twice several days ago and never heard anything back (which I have heard isnt like them, so if you know someone there I would appreciate another way to contact them) I have heard of GOMI, but from some of the stuff I have read here you have to download code into it to get it to do somethings I want (and I have no idea how to do something like that) & I hear there is a monthly fee..which I am not completely against, but I would prefer to just own it.
Anyway you guys are all amazing! so I want to thank you in advance for any and all feedback about this..I am excited to continue to learn and grow my ordeflow skills!
I don't think that's true. you have the option to incorporate your own formula (which is absolutely amazing), but you certainly don't have to. everything you need is ready out of the box. you just have to select what you want.
Orderflow is a dinosaur and yet is still a buzzword because it's a peek into a layer that most retail traders never look at and then their eyes widen and they do the hokey pokey. These indicators might've been worth alot of money back in the day, but the community has created alot of these indicators and provided them for free. Before you invest in software, explore the free ones provided by nexusfi.com to see if they suit your needs and your style of trading. I've compiled a list for you that should serve as an entry point.
You may have checked out their YouTube channel already, but someone on this forum recommended MarketDelta's videos. Not sure if they're still in business but the channel is still up and has a lot of info about order flow trading, point and figure, etc. I found it helpful as I'm getting back into volume profile trading and interested in understanding order flow better myself.
