Would I be able to get historical tick data or just previous sessions data I recorded myself? What I'm trying to do is say watch through whole of last months first 90min of cash so I can gain experience without having to wait each day for a live session. Is this possible?
BTW, fellow kiwi from Auckland here
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
You do NOT need to record it yourself. With CQG and SC you get historical tick by tick data (for the Exchange datafeeds you subscribe to with AMP) easily covering back a month. Can't recall how far back tick by tick historical data goes - but at least 3 months.

After reading through this thread I feel I need to give the HSI/MHI a shot and start looking at it. I mainly look at the Mini Nikkei in the evenings. But, I want to get intraday data for HSI/MHI or delayed data.
My initial thought to sim trade the HSI/MHI would be to pick up and pay for the the HKEX exchange data. Is that correct? Or would there be any other options to get delayed data to start siming and see intraday price action?
I checked out Sierra Trade's data feed that I get with package and it's historical daily data only for HKEX. I don't think I can get intraday/market depth delayed unless I pay. Any suggestions on how to go about it?
EDIT: Pulled up some 5m charts of the HSI via tradingview.... Gotta say this market looks fun, lol. It's like the ES with a hint of "crypto pumps" if you know what I mean. This thing will run and then run some more.... and then tighten the shoe laces and keep running. I can see this instrument being pretty good to trade if you can find yourself on the right side of the flow.
Yes, CFD symbol "HKG33" on tradingview is basically HSI futures. JPN225 is Nikkei. And a lot more there.
Having traded the ES for 10 years, and the HSI for close to a year, I would say that HSI is really not much like ES ... the liquidity profile is totally different. Charts can look similar, but the behavior and tradability of a market is a totally different beast. It's why charts by themselves are so misleading, IMO. It only tells you some aggregated view of what happened, and doesn't really give you the feel for how it would have been to actually trade it.
The HSI is more like a DAX/NQ combo, IMO. Fast washouts, not much liquidity, can be highly rewarding but will suck the soul right out of you if you give it room to run against you.
Very true remarks on the HSI....it will kill you with the intra bar volatility without proper stop placement...so many times I've seen it turn on a dime and back-fill on perfect signal bars...gives me the jeepers!! ES is definitely as "easier" market to trade for my PATS trading style but I'm "not"going to lose sleep over it anytime soon.
Hi guys!
For these products are you using only RTH chart and volume profile or 24h chart and volume profile since there is high volume in both sessions?
