Took my first trade on the HSI this evening after a year long break, and man oh man did it feel good... There isn't a market that gives you a better bang for your buck (and also potential to completely run you over of course) than the HSI. In fact, I was a bit hesitant on this market so I watched it for a while, saw the setup present itself, and put the trade on in the MHI (the mini HSI, worth 1.28 USD per point, versus 6.42 for the big HSI).

Shout out to @steve2222 for telling me that I *could* trade it, just that my permissions from AMP had gotten messed up during the ban, and needed to be re-enabled.

And thanks in turn to you for putting MHI on my radar. Looks quite tradable, would give me an opportunity for a second trading session daily.

You are never in the wrong place... but sometimes you are in the right place looking at things in the wrong way.

I am looking to start practicing with this index. I have often found your posts extremely helpful as I am developing my own trading strategy and thank you for that. Just a quick question if you have time.

Do you still use the CQG datafeed? I am with amp futures as well and currently trade the e-mini on my weeks off (i work week on and week off at my daytime job) and utilize the denali data feed with sierra chart. I chose the denali feed because I heard its quality was exceptional and know sierra chart is my preferred platform as I have gained the most experience with it. But it does not support these asian indices so likely my best option would be CQG but I have heard their historical data is very limited so I assume you pay for the historical data seperately?

I don't pay for historical data separately... I just download the data when I log on.. I think it's available for 5 days or so. Not ideal, but it works for me.

The SC RT data feed does in fact support HKFE (the HSI for example). But they don't offer JPX support for the Nikkei and TOPIX. See https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SierraChartRealTimeFuturesStockDataFeed.php

The truth is CQG provides 30 day of tick data on current contracts, but Sierra Charts only request and download 5 days.

Information from here:https://www.sierrachart.com/SupportBoard.php?ThreadID=63670

And I test this by myself get the same result.
