Hey everybody, I'm starting this journal for various reasons, but the main one is to improve my trading and hold myself accountable. I've spent some time reading through Big Mike's journal from the very beginning and it really has inspired me.
Short background: I've been trading for about 2.5 years now. I don't trade full time but that is the ultimate goal. I currently run my own business so there are times when I can't trade as much as I'd like and times when I can put more focus into it. I started trading with a very small account trading stocks and then began trading cryptocurrencies. When I started I really had no clue what was going on, and just managed to get lucky with the times (bull market). If I only I knew then what I know now... Something about hindsight! I believe my worst weakness when it comes to trading is over trading and impatience.
Still, I've managed to grow a decent portfolio and am beginning to dabble with futures. Of course, the allure of ES futures are what attracted me but I did not have a solid plan at first and lost money like so many others. Now I still trade equities and some crypto, and will be trading Micro 6E contracts on a cash account while I build my confidence and grow the account a little before switching to the ES contracts. I will be taking trades on a sim account in the ES, but I don't want to do too much of that. I will post all M6E trades and any sim trades taken in the ES. I am keeping a separate journal for my equity trades, but I could post those too if anybody wants to see them.
My trading strategy is a bit of my own discretionary style. When it comes to equities/crypto I am almost always trading reversals into the overall trend. With futures this may not always be the case, but I will still mostly be looking for reversals. On my charts I keep an rsi indicator, daily pivots and a vwap or a vegas wave depending on the instrument. Recently while watching the ES I'll add the atr to get a glimpse of the volatility. Aside from that I believe highly in fib ratios while adding in channels/pitchforks.
