Ok, my first time posting ever. I've been a member of BMT/FIO for a few years now. I check on the forums on occasion; I'm an inactive member for the most part. When I'm on, I always learn a few things from others. So, I hope that by posting my topsteptrader journal here, others can learn a thing or two from me, and similarly, I will continue to grow and learn more from this community.
Quick background:
-33 years young
-Trades from Hawaii
-Steady career (NOT trading in hopes that I can quit my job)
-3 years of trading experience; stocks and futures
-Trading style: price action/trend trader--never scalping ticks
-Favorite news source: none--tuned out completely
-Uses NT8 for manual live trades and NT7 for auto sim trades
Ok, now the trader bio is out the way. Let's jump right into it.
March 11, 2017 - I signed up for TST out of curiosity. At first glance, I thought wow, their business model is unbelievable--80/20 split with no risk to the funded trader! For 150 bucks, the challenge is on.
March 12, 2017 - Did a little bit more research on TST and have found some blogs berating the company for their "immoral" business model - for preying on hopeful and vulnerable "traders" in which they take their money and put them on this endless combine cycles. As I read the blogs, I thought to myself, it is not TST's fault they can't pass the combine, but rather the individual's as they fail to recognize that maybe they're not ready. Maybe they don't have a good trading plan, have not developed the discipline nor the necessary skills to succeed. This maybe wrong for me to publicly say, and I apologize upfront if I may have offended anyone. If an individual can't pass the first, second, or third combine, why continue? I get it, the combine is challenging and it is not the same as sim trading like others have mentioned. But don't voluntarily give your hard earned cash then regret it later on if it doesn't work out to your favor. Just like the #1 trading rule says right? Don't trade money you can't afford to lose, period.
Ok, enough said on that, but I too, still have doubts whether or not TST is legit, hence why I read such blogs. Any funded traders out there that can confirm this for me and other potential TST traders would be greatly appreciated.
I will leave this here for now as the opening date of this journal is actually a "late entry". Will post my combine result 2-3 days from now once others get a chance to read/reply. Thank you.
